I gave this place a positive review 2 years ago, but it has changed since then. There is no longer a delicious breakfast served to your table. It is basically a serve-yourself food bar that would be similar to any continental breakfast. The keys that I was given did not open the front door, so I was left stuck outside after an evening out calling the owners. They were crabby about having to let me in and kind of acted like it was my fault! No bottle of wine in the room that was there on my first trip. Overall, the rooms are big and clean, but for the exhorbitant price, you expect a few extras. Hermann would really do well with a reasonably priced non-chain hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on Market Street are pretty noisy.

We stayed here overnight. The room was big and had what we needed - a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. The breakfast was fine - eggs, sausage and toast.

The room's carpet had a lot of stains, the walls are very thin so you can hear everything going on outside your room, and you have to rely on everyone staying in the building to lock the building's doors. Several drunk guys wandered in from off the street. They were yelling and trying to get into guests' rooms. That was an unnerving experience.

Overall, I don't think $190 is a fair price for one night. It's not worth that much.

Wife & I were in town for the annual Stone Hill 10 year Norton tasting. Hermann is difficult because there are no chain hotel options; the consortium in the town manages to keep it so that your only options are B & B's.

The Wine Valley Inn's location is perfect in that it's right on the main thoroughfare thru town (MO state highway 19 / 100), Market Street, 3 blocks south of the tourist shops along river road that runs north out of town. Some parking right out front and some off-street parking in small lots down the alley.

Two main buildings house the different rooms, with the "back" building sitting about 1/2 block down 4th street and allowing for a nice sized courtyard between the two buildings.

We stayed in room #209. Large single room on second floor overlooking 4th street; very comfortable king sized bed, electric fireplace that offered very little ambiance; kitchenette w/ simple sink, small fridge & microwave set up; roomy bathroom with very little counter space around sink; single tub/shower. We had no real issues with the room.

On the positive side is the amount of space in the room -- good sized single room.

On the down side, the door to suite is thin and loose fitting so you pick up a bit of hallway noise. TV was a bit small for the size of the room -- if you did want to watch some boob tube.

The courtyard separating the two buildings offered a nice spot late in evening for a shared bottle of wine and a cigar.

Breakfast in the morning (sunday) was simple eggs and sausage patties in crock pots; pre-measured & ready to make waffles; 2 choices on cereal; whole fruit; and assorted juices and hot beverage choices.

Paid just over 2 bills for this. Thus the average rating -- because that's about what you get expect in Hermann for that rate. And that's why every year when we go to Hermann we seem to always want to try some place different; we're always hoping we'll find some place that lives up to the price charged but usually come away underwhelmed.

Would I stay there again? Yes, but I think we'll continue our search for the very elusive Hermann B & B that provides an experience worthy of the rates they charge.

Room Tip: We opted for a room in the back building, 2nd floor in order to reduce any chance of street noise...

We have stayed there for Oktoberfest three times now and have loved it every time. We take over the entire place and they have been very accommodating. Within walking distance to downtown and their breakfasts are fantastic. I would highly recommend this B&B.

My first ever stay at a B&B in this area and I couldn't be happier. Location was great - it was a nice little walk to Hermanoff Winery (although I wish Stonehill was closer) and several little antique-y shops and boutiques. The little wing place was good (husband really loved it) and only a few minutes walk. The room we had was charming and spacious and the price was reasonable. The breakfast we had was homecooked, not reheated pre-made, store bought nonsense and there was more than enough to go around. I hate when there is barely enough food or if it is lackluster. Wine Valley didn't have these problems. The staff seemed very friendly, the other guests great to talk to and overall just a pleasant time. I will definately stay again when we come back for the Wine Trails next year.

Overall it was just okay. I would not stay here again though. It wasn't your typical bed and breakfast, was more like a motel. Room was mostly clean (vents were filthy) and large but it had no charm, just real basic white walls. Speaking of walls, they are thin and annoyed us each night. People were coming and going late at night and one person talked on their cell phone for hours into the late evening on next night and we could hear it loud and clear. I've been to other B&B and they had strict quiet times after a certain time of night for respect to others. Wish they would do the same here considering the thin walls. Shower pressure was terrible and one morning didn't have hot water for about 30 minutes. No nice soaps, just cheap Sauve all in one and body wash that doesn't even lather up. They don't clean your room daily unless you ask, odd for what they charge. We stayed in the Kimmel building and it did not have Internet at all. I did have them add roses, chocolates and wine to our room when we arrived and they did a good job there, roses were excellent and chocolates from Rickeys are very good (it's across the street). Breakfast was so-so and by no means anything gourmet nor that homemade charm. Bread and muffins appeared to come from somewhere like Wal-Mart. One day what appeared to taste like bacon wrapped hard boiled eggs and another day a hash brown casserole. If you are wanting a true B&B experience, look elsewhere in Hermann.

Room was large, nice and clean. We made reservation for 4 people and there were NOT enough towels in the room. The extra bed was NOT made up, nor were there sheets avaiable, in the room. Morning staff were nice and breakfast was great!!!! BUT, room shoud have been prepared better!!!
