“Warm, wonderful stay”
Reviewed 23 August 2013

Stayed in 2007.
The place was ran by a couple (sorry forgot their names..it was 6 years ago) utilizing their already grown-up children's room into the guest room. The place is old but had a warm feeling and felt the history that the family spent. They had a clean linen and very cute taste for the interiors. The attraction of this place is this couple's hospitality (back then, did not have any other staffs helping).
As for dinner, the husband does a great bbq right in front of you and the menu including wines were quite amazing. We stayed for 2 nights but had a great time while we stayed here. Wife gave us the freshly squeezed orange juice every morning. They grew the herbs in their yard and go pick them up when they cook! I loved watching their cat playing with the small animals in the yard.
If you are tired of the 5 stars hotel and would want to try something different, this place is highly recommended!!

The location is absolutely superbe right in the center of the village overlooking the waterfall and dominated by the church of Notre Dame de Beauvoir! The rooms and the other common spaces of the "chambre d'hôtes" are decorated with exquisite taste.
We would have expected a warmer welcome by the owners if not when we arrived (it was dinner time) at least the morning after...this is also part of the charme of a chambre d'hôtes vs an hotel. Fortunately, the german hostess (sorry I do not remember her name) who serves breakfast and looks after the rooms was so nice and kind that we quickly forgot the absence of the owners...
We did not try the restaurant because of the too many bad comments on Tripadvisor and - although the garden where dinner is served is beautiful - because of the very loud live music programmed for the evening.... Moreover, there are some extraordinary restaurants just a few steps away (i.e. La Treille Muscate, Coté Jardin) so that we did not regret our choice!

We really enjoyed our stay at La Bouscatiere. Arriving later than normal check-in on a miserable, stormy night, we were given very clear directions (thank you!) and greeted by the lovely Kirsten, who is so gentle and kind that our stay felt really homely. Virginie & Boubou are wonderful hosts, and have done an amazing job at renovating and decorating this stunning property (when looking at prior reviews, remember that it changed hands 2 years ago!). We had the Lula room: the smallest of the four, but (having had a guided tour around the others), it was my favourite. I love the stone shower, and the décor is very tasteful. The common areas are, likewise, delightful: the kitchen/living area, the courtyard/restaurant, and the terrace/bar. Could have stayed here for much longer than we did! Unfortunately it was raining both nights (requiring the restaurant to close due to lack of indoor seating), so we didn't get to sample the food, but the menu looked great. The location is perfect: close to parking, really close to the walk up to the chapel, right in the (albeit small) town centre. We loved Moustiers, and La Bouscatiere - merci pour votre accueil chaleureux!

Room Tip: The Lula room is small (but not too small), and absolutely gorgeous. There are quite a few steep st...

From the moment we arrived (after a long journey from the Carmogue area) we were greeted warmly by BouBou and his wife and staff. They accomodated a late dinner with smiles, amazing food and great service. The courtyard area has such style and attention to detail making it a magical place to unwind. The rooms share the same attention with probably the most comfortable bed I have slept in to fascinating artifacts in each nook. We could hear the church chime but honestly you tune it out and what you do hear is just another special piece of this beautiful town. It's hard to find but is at the base of the steps to the beautiful chappel. You cannot go wrong with this place. It is the perfect spot what is one of the prettiest spots in Provence. You will also fall in love with the staff!!

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the balcony. A really special litte nook!!

Thank-you for all of the thorough reviews of this hotel. We have booked to stay at La Bouscatiere in October and are really looking forward to it! However, I would like recommendations as to the best means of travel to get to Provence and the hotel. We are travelling from Paris to Bordeaux and Bordeaux to Provence and looking into either renting a car or train. The travel time getting there does not matter so much. We would like to know what is more suitable?

We loved our 3-night stay at this large, old stone house. We stayed in the Maia room which is large and comfortable. Two big windows overlook a creek and small stone bridge. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom is huge. It was awkward taking a shower in the freestanding bathtub (shower curtain keeps getting in the way) but a bath was very nice. The innkeeper, Virginie, is a new owner of the property (since April 2012) and she is delightful! She was helpful, considerate and speaks excellent English. Breakfast was a simple, continental affair (coffee or tea, juice, bread, croissants and jam). We did not have a problem on the winding stairways between our room and the main floor where breakfast was served. Folks who are unsteady on their feet may find it difficult but then again, the entire village is hilly and paved with cobblestones so footing can be tricky anywhere.

Room Tip: We didn't see the other rooms but the Maia room was big, quiet and comfortable.

We just spent 3 days in the village of Moustiers Sainte Marie with our two boys (11&14) - the area is famous for its canyon landscape and the outdoors activities it offers: rock climbing, parasailing, etc...
We love the outdoors ... just as much as we like being comfortable after a day of cliffhanging. We want to eat well, drink good wines and sleep in a cosy bed in a charming but unpretentious setting. This is exactly what we found at La Bouscatiere, a recently renovated and decorated medieval b&b run by a young, fun and welcoming french couple Boubou (sp?) and Virginie. They have a few rooms (not sure how many but less than 8) and a drop-dead beautiful outdoor dining areas in which they serve grilled meat and fishes. The rooms have the feel of authenticity that one finds everywhere in the village but with 21st c amenities.
The atmosphere is very laid back: Boubou is a jovial and gregarious giant who always seemed up for a good laugh. Virginie (probably the brains behind the operation) is attentive and runs the show in a permanent state of genuine good mood.
Hugely recommended.
