Luxury self-catering house.
Exceptionally well furnished and equipped, and well cleaned - you can tell this is the owner's much loved holiday home.
Good service support from managing agent Resort Rentals - Paulo was our link man, with meet and greet, checking everything ok, sorting out replacement gas cylinder for BBQ, etc. Lovely sea views from house.
Super large outdoor heated pool.
Salema is one of the prettiest coastal villages in Western Algarve. Now a small resort, but still has some character, and most accommodation is high-end.
Linked in with large San Antonia golf resort complex, so you can use the pool and Spa there as well.
I stayed at the view with my wife and two young girls this July. We had a really great holiday which was helped in no small way by the standard of our accommodation at the View. All of the rooms are well furnished and the quality of the beds was good which meant a good nights sleep. With air con in all the major rooms the property was always comfortable. I was really impressed with the twice weekly cleaning service which included full linnen and towel change. The property and grounds were pristine.
The View really does live up to its name - there are great sea views from all of the terraces and most of the windows making the alfresco dining using the large BBQ provided all the more enjoyable.
We stayed with our 2 young girls 2 and 3 and the house suited them perfectly. They are both old enough to negotiate the stairs but for younger toddlers this might be an issue. The living space is all upstairs to maximise the views so if you have toddlers you should certainly look in to the supply of a stair gate.
Salema itself is a charming little village. If you're after wild nights out this isn't the place for you. But if you want a great location for a holiday with a young family then The Biew and Salema is ideal. The house is an easy 10 min walk down the hill to the village where there are 5 or 6 good restaurants (we liked Boia best - order a cocktail after your meal and the it on to the beach!). The walk back up to the house is not so leisurely. The hill is steep and would be problematic for anyone not so good on their feet.
The beach at Salema is really beautiful and, like all the other beaches locally, never crowded. The local fishing boats come right up on to the beach to empty their nets which was great to watch. There are several equally good beaches writhin a 15 min drive and many have really good restaurants. I would recommend renting a car.
We went Slide and Splash water park one of the days. There is something for all ages there even the really little ones but book your tickets in advance as it is incredibly busy (we didn't!). Apparently Saturday is the best day to go as it's change over day in most resorts so not so crowded. You can also avail of the pool and playground at sister resort Santo Antonio for a fee of €10 per adult per day. It is a nice change of scene and has a pool side restaurant and bar which The View is lacking.
My final piece of advice is to bring a hoodie or jumper! The days are hot but there is a cooling breeze that makes it really pleasant. Unfortunately when the sun goes down in the evening this breeze can make it feel quite cool so if you like to sit out on the balcony with a book and a drink you will need that hoodie.
A special thanks too to Alice from Resort Rentsls who was very responsive on the rare occasions when we needed her help. She went the extra mile for us and it was really appreciated.
We're going back next year

Myself and my partner visited Salema looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday with good wine and food. We weren't disappointed - the village offers a variety of restaurants offering superb food served in relaxing atmospheres. The unspoilt beach offers great opportunities for sunbathing. There are lots of interesting places to visit nearby and the fact that there is a well stocked supermarket nearby was great for essentials, and food for the barbecue at the property! Y23 The View was a beautiful property offering so much, the pictures really don't do it justice. It felt like walking into a 5star hotel, the decor is modern and very relaxing. It is a class above any other self catering property I have stayed at before - all the white goods in the kitchen are of a high standard as are the crockery and cutlery - every possible utensil has been provided. The en-suite bathroom was a bonus for us, and the family bathroom would be great for larger groups staying here. The weekly maid service was unexpected and cleaned the property for us and provided us with fresh bedding and clean towels. The outdoor space would also be great for larger groups and the two balconies captured the sun throughout the whole day. Easy to follow instructions had been left for the free wi-fi connections and for the washer/dryer and dishwasher. A fantastic place - will definitely be returning.
