“One of the top courses”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 October 2013

Lisburn is one of the course I always look out for when the open fixtures are announced. Traditonal golf club which is laid out in an excellent manner. The course is tough off the whites and fair off the yellows! The notable holes for me are the 6th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 12th,13th, 14th,17th and 18th!!! The 17th off the whites is one of the trickier par 4's in Northern ireland.

The only draw back I have is that membership is hard to obtain from what I hear!?!?

A friendly welcome in the clubhouse and fair priced bar food!! The gammon, egg and chips was excellent! The stout afterwards was a decent quality!

I recommend this course as a fair test to the seasoned golfer with the warmest welcome in and around the course!!!!

“Beautiful parkland course – well worth a visit!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 September 2013

Located just off the main Dublin – Belfast Road (A1), this is a traditional, mature parkland course (Hawtree designed) that opened in 1973, although the club roots go back a lot further. We played as visitors in an open competition and although the weather was a little dull, with occasional showers and some wind, we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

It has 2 loops of nine holes, each loop starting and finishing close to the clubhouse, where visitors are provided with excellent views of the 9th & 18th greens and approaches. Each nine is well balanced with 2 par fives and 2 par 3s.

The course is laid out on a former farm estate, containing an attractive mix of mature trees with newer decorative varieties (incl. rowan, azalea, hydrangea), that have been planted since it became a golf course. Most memorable holes for me were the 6th (played over water) and the 18th (played downhill toward the clubhouse) - both par threes but offering completely different challenges, particularly in a gusting wind.

This is one of the better parkland courses you will find, either side of the border. It is beautifully maintained, well laid out and greens are excellent. Clubhouse has a welcoming atmosphere and food / refreshments were well up to expectations. I would definitely recommend it and fully intend to re-visit in the not too distant future.
