“Comfortable and quiet”
Reviewed 25 March 2014

The rooms are small cabins located in a circle around a lake in the center of the property. It's nice, generally quiet, and not too far from the city center -- around 3 miles. Breakfast was great and the staff was welcoming.

We arrived to Vladimir late in the night. Still, having spent 10-15 on booking.com we have chosen to stay here.

First thing you should be aware of is that it is quite unobvious to find an entrance during the night since the main gate is closed. However if you go around u'd find both parking space and the entrance.

On the other hand night service was brilliant. The room and spare bed was found in a matter of minutes.

In conclusion it quite an authentic decent Russian stylized place. .

I have stayed in Russian village in August 2013, for one night only.

In general, the hotel is good, but not for sight seeing. It is situated 5 kilometers from Vladimir centre, but there are no pavements by the road (and the traffic is heavy), and the only way to get to the sights is by car, what, in my opinion is not very good.

But now - about the hotel itself.

It is designed in the form of Russian village (it is clear from the name). There are guest houses and some rooms at the main building (where the reception is). The rooms in the main building (if I am not mistaken, "Economy class" rooms), don't have air conditioner. It is not actually, a big problem, but if you open the balcony to wind the room, you can hear the music from the restaurant, which sometimes is not really good).

One more thing about the room - the bathroom door of my room closed very tightly, so I had some problems, opening it.

As for the meals: There is a restaurant, where all the big celebrations are held, and a small cafe "Okolitsa" ("a fence round the village"), where the breakfast is served.

I don't know about the restaurants, but the cafe is really good. The food is marvelous (especially good are the "Solyanka" and "Okroshka" soups). And the breakfast there is good as well. There is some choice of meals, so you can have what you like.

There is also Banya (Russian Sauna) available. But I am afraid, I can say nothing of it, as I did not use it.

So, if you are going by car and taking the air conditioned room, the place is good.

But be careful: not all the staff speaks English.

Room Tip: Not all the rooms in the main building (where the reception is) have air conditioner. And in these r...

My son and I stayed here for one night in the course of a group tour (with Explore) around Russia. This accommodation made for a very pleasant and unusual change from the Soviet-era hotels used elsewhere on the tour. Accommodation is in a number of pine houses built in traditional Russian style around an attractive small lake. The house we used, on two storeys and containing eight double rooms, was extremely well constructed and equipped, with a perfect room temperature at night and a spacious bathroom with an efficient shower. We had free Wi-Fi and a good selection of international TV channels including (unlike in our big Moscow hotel) BBC. The set meal we had in the evening was pretty good, as was the breakfast the next day. I notice that the negative English-language reviews here are quite old; our tour leader told us that there had been some problems with this accommodation earlier, but that the hotel management had been very responsive to criticisms and had acted to address and resolve them. (The favourable ratings in Russian are more recent, which bears out that the owners of this newish hotel are working hard to improve standards). In short, we had a very enjoyable one-night stay here are would certainly recommend this very distinctive and attractive accommodation.

We stayed at this hotel for one night in late July. We were part of a tour that had been visiting Moscow and Sudzal and therefore had not chosen the hotel.

Located in an industrial area behind what appeared to be panel beating shops, this hotel had few redeeming features. Accommodation was in two storey units of about eight rooms. The units were wooden and constructed to resemble the 18th and 19th century wooden houses that were built in the surrounding country. They did look attractive and quaint but there the good part ended.

The blocks were placed around a large green area (I hesitate to use the word garden) which was untidy and completely overgrown. It did not look as though it had been mown for months. In the centre of the garden was a large artificial pond, which was possibly intended as a swimming pool. It was half full of green water and appeared to contain a wide assortment of aquatic insects.

The wooden theme was carried through to the rooms and all the walls and ceiling were clad in pine. It looked like we were inside a sauna. What added to the sauna ‘experience’ was the fact that the rooms had not been aired and were extremely hot. There was no air-conditioning and opening the widow let in assorted flying insects and the sound the traffic on the nearby main road. As with too many hotels, all the electrics in the room were controlled by a card activated switch. Here this included the mini-bar, and the temperature of the drinks was that of the room – hot. Why put in a mini-bar if it is going to be turned off. Visitors certainly won’t be keen to avail themselves of drinks. It was not even possible to easily buy cold drinks at reception.

Dinner and breakfast were included. While the staff made a valiant effort to welcome us, the dinner was very ordinary. It was edible, and there was sufficient quantity, but, once again, the heat and lack of air conditioning made it unbearable. Breakfast was not much better with limited range.

All in all we could not recommend this hotel at all.

The driveway into this hotel is through an alleyway that has garbage piled up along its sides. We had a guide with us at the time and she told us to close our eyes while we drove along the alleyway to the hotel. The hotel itself is set with log-style cabins that have four rooms per cabin. We were given the choice of staying in a cabin or the main building. We stayed in the main building and that seemed to be a little better than the cabins. The room was not large, was basic but okay for a nights stay. It took about 5 minutes to get warm water out of the shower. If staying in the summer time, there is no airconditioning, or screens on the windows etc. However there are double glazed windows and doors for a winter stay. The hotel put mosquito zappers in the room because the hotel is situated in a mosquito area. Dinner was good and, as we were there on a Saturday night, there was live entertainment, which was quite good. I don't know if the entertainment is a standard Saturday night feature though. Breakfast was very basic. Our guide pointed out a hotel in Suzdal that is a better option (and it certainly looked superior to the Russian Village Hotel at Vladimir) but we had already paid for the Russian Village Hotel. If travelling around the 'Golden Ring' in Russia again I would choose to stay in Suzdal not at the Russian Village Hotel in Vladimir.

I went on a tour with On The Go Tours in Russia. We spent two nights in Valdimir & Suzdal. When driving here you would not imagine turning off the freeway and driving past an abandon building would lead you to this surprising oasis. The hotel looks like a Russian Village. There are several pine log cabins. There is the main house and another building where there is a restaurant/dance club.

The lodging cabins are two floors. The buildings smell of pine since this is the material they are made out of. The rooms are a good size and were very clean. There are double windows so you can help airflow into the room.

There is a pond on the property and an adorable family of ducks live there. The reception desk is located in the main building along with the restaurant for breakfast each morning. In the restaurant building there is also a dance club. What is even more interesting is that there is a stripclub below the restaurant.

We ate in the restaurant and the food was very good. We were in a private room which was nice because the dance club music was really loud and we would not have been able to talk during dinner otherwise.

If you stay at this hotel you have to read the information book in the guest room. Everything is written in Russian and then translated into English. Some of the translations are off and really funny to read - especially their description of the stripclub.
