We stayed at the Crows Nest Inn for one night. Overall this is a nice B&B and I would recommend it.
The Owners of this B&B do not live on site and most of our interaction was with the employees. Our greeting at check-in was very friendly and efficient. We were shown our room, the breakfast area and the guest common area. We were also told to make use of the provided computer if we wanted to (wi-fi is also available and free). We were shown the kitchen area and where coffee and tea were located and told to help ourselves if we wanted a hot beverage.
Our room was fine. One queen bed and one single bed with a little space between would be fine for a couple with one child (we were just the two of us). A television is in the room along with a single chair. Our room also had its own entrance in addition to the door inside the B&B. We found the bed and pillows to be comfortable. We did not notice any noise at all in the B&B once we retired to our room. Quiet and peaceful!
The ensuite washroom was well equipped and clean. The lighting in the washroom was terrible. One halogen-type spotlight provided insufficient lighting and I found it difficult to see well enough to properly shave in the morning (I actually ended up cutting myself which almost never happens)....We stayed at the Crows Nest Inn for one night. The ensuite washroom was well equipped and clean. The lighting in the washroom was terrible. One halogen-type spotlight provided insufficient lighting and I found it difficult to see well enough to properly shave in the morning (I actually ended up cutting myself which almost never happens). The poor lighting combined with a dark shower curtain made for a rather dark shower in the morning. That light fixture needs to be changed, in my opinion.
The living room/common area was well set up with a computer stand, sofa, a few chairs and end/coffee tables. Some magazines and a newspaper were available to read and there was also a bookshelf with a good selection of books to choose from. Off the breakfast area is a deck with a great view of the harbour. Due to inclement weather nobody chose to use the deck but it would be great to sit out there on a warm, sunny day.
You select your breakfast using a laminated menu located in your room. After completing your choices you put the menu in the kitchen sometime during the evening. This was an efficient way of doing this but somewhat impersonal. This wouldn’t be my choice of a way of doing things. Apparently selections for breakfast do change but we only had a choice of cold or hot cereal with toast, juice and hot beverage OR a hot breakfast of eggs, breakfast meat, toast, juice and hot beverage. Breakfast was OK but nothing special. Newfoundland-made partridgeberry jam and bakeapple jam were available on the table...More
