“Good option”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

Clean modest sized but comfortable rooms. Friendly innkeeper but with limited English. Some fruit bread and coffee available for breakfast. One block to the beach. Some street noise possible but likely better than other Sayulita similar accomodations. Good value.

Staying at the Diamante is like staying with your family. Theresa will make every effort to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The Staff is hard working, and the modest hotel shows it. I am going back for a longer stay.

I have just returned home after spending a week at Hotel Diamonte which is really well priced and is located close to the beach / surf camps. Theresa the owner will treat you like family, her and her staff work really hard to keep the place clean and comfortable.

The room is modest but clean and comfortable. The pool is a nice touch, there are areas to lounge & read a book, and the communal kitchenette is extensive and includes fresh water, and coffee / fruit in the mornings.

It's the perfect place to wind down after a day of surfing or night of tequila ;).

Room Tip: Booking upstairs means you will pay a bit more to get air conditioned room... and it might be quiter...

We had 3 days left over after a Sayulita condo stay and a side trip to Guadalajara. We called the Diamante and the lady owner (manager?) spoke no English but a cheerful and charming American guest translated.

The hotel is Spartan. Perfect. Rigorously clean. Room and bathroom small but functional. Good air conditioning, which we hardly needed in January. Courtyard pool a gem, sun loungers never crowded and free towels. Common area on second floor is a large covered balcony with tables, chairs, a wood and cushion love seat for a pair of middle aged yank lovebirds, fridge, gas stove, sink, dishes etc. Common area on ground floor similar plus a TV, with coffee made in the mornings for the guests, and washers and dryers. Wi-fi works throughout, slow but not too slow.

Across the street is the Sayulita Grill, not bad, raucous and fun but shuts down the music by 10pm. Adjacent are a good wood fired pizza sidewalk cafe and the Tropical House, one of the best restos ever. Across the side street is the Medusa resto, also good.

Fitness centre? Ha, ha, ha. Go to the beach, buy Pacificos and rent a boogie board and play in the perfect surf. You'll come back to your room fully fit, the more cervezas, the more fit you'll be.

One minor quibble. I hate fat pillows. Some thin, thin pillows as options would be nice.

I don't know why I'm praising the place so much, the owner will surely raise her reasonable prices. Oh well, she deserves it.

Madame, muchas gracias por la estancia y su tipo, servicio atento y agradable. El hotel es encantador.

Federico

Room Tip: Room #7 is great.

Having been here for our 2nd time and 8 days so far this trip, I thought it was time for a review. Morning on our deck over-looking a not too busy corner in North side Sayulita couldn't be complimented any better than by free coffee and fruit from owner Terese and the waking rituals of the local merchants getting ready for the morning. Very quiet through the night being in our road facing room. The two outdoor restaurants on the corner are quiet and closed up by 10:00 pm most nights. Very comfortable beds with fresh linen and towels daily. I can't tell you how hard Terese and her three maids work to keep the entire facility clean from top to bottom. In the 8 days since being here our communal kitchen (1 of 2) has been dismantled and thoroughly cleaned 3 times.

No need to worry about your needs. They are all willingly taken care of. If you don't have what you need, just ask! English can be a slight inconvenience for the staff but they do their utmost best to communicate. Google translator has been a handy tool for those hard to handle conversations. Yes, they are willing to communicate if that means using the opposite and using the Spanish to English translator as well. The small lap pool is perfectly un-heated to take the days heat away with a small dip.

We are a half block walk to the quiet end of the beach and as well a short walk to all you will need to pick up. Even with our three week stay, you won't feel the need to head into PV Walmart for provisions. Support the local, friendly merchants! Prices for both booze and food are very reasonable and quantifull.

Friday's Organic market is still a huge hit. They are trying to find venues large enough to handle the crowd and merchants. Next week they are moving to a larger venue I've been told. We are loving the atmosphere in Sayulita and this little hotel in the quiet end of town. Both young and old age groups mingling and enjoying all that this town and beach has to offer.

Our room with one bed, bathroom and communal kitchen cost us 700 pesos per night. Their are some cheaper rooms with fan only (600) and larger more spacious for two beds (780?). Quiet end of town, no long uphill walks and close to the beach make this a great choice.

I had originally rented out Casa Dos Pescados for myself for a week in Sayulita. The manager messed up on my dates (nightmare) and had already rented the space to another couple. I was desperate to find a place - holiday season is crazy and rooms were very scarce. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have found Hotel Diamante!!

The staff is so welcoming, accommodating, I felt truly at home. The rooms are small and minimal in terms of furnishings/decor, but truly in this town you don't need anything more. Cheap, extremely clean, and accessible to everything you'll need during your stay. Would absolutely stay here agan. There's a communal kitchen space where you have access to complimentary coffee, fruit, and buscuits in the mornings. I couldn't have asked for more, especially at this pricepoint.

I would NOT recommend for couples to stay in the lower level rooms - I needed earplugs to sleep - not much sound privacy. But I can't speak to the higher level rooms (which I understand have AC and are more spacious.

We checked in here after a getting a recommendation in the town for a cheap bed for the night. They didn't have the lower scale beds available, but we took the higher priced room for three nights with air-con as it looked so nice.
The hotel is a 5 min walk from the main town, but also right next to the beach. The bed was large and soft, with the general standard of cleanliness very good. There are two communal kitchens and seating areas, one on each floor, which we made use of, being on a backpacker budget.
The wi-fi is excellent and the pool is a lovely touch. Basic breakfast of fruit and coffee is provided and there is COLD drinking water for guests available
We loved it so much, we stayed an extra night, but in one of the cheaper rooms, without air-con, but the room was excellent value for the price at M$490,
The owners and staff were lovely and were constantly working. They were all very friendly and welcoming. This is a great place to stay in Sayulita. Give it a go!
