The Inn at Manzanillo Bay
Ranked #3 of 8 Hotels in Troncones
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 22 February 2012

My husband and I took our son (8 yrs old) to Troncones for a week the beginning of February. Troncones is a sweet little town that is perfect for people who are looking for something a little more authentic and not so 5-star, all-inclusive, never leave the compound type place. The people in Troncones are the nicest I've encountered anywhere, including those associated with the Inn at Manzanillo Bay. The grounds are immaculate, the food is amazing and the staff is excellent. We stayed three nights in the air conditioned apartment and two nights in the ocean front palapa. Both were great. We especially appreciated having both the ocean and pool within steps. Take snorkel gear. My son spent hours in the tide pools. One word of caution: watch out for sea urchins. They're easily avoidable if you know what you're looking for. The weather was perfect and so were the accommodations at the Inn. Thank you Michael, Winn, and the rest of the crew! The food at the Inn was great and my husband and I actually thought the bill would be higher at the end of the trip. (Michael, if you're reading this, this is not a suggestion to raise the prices!) I should also mention that Troncones has a little skatepark for those of you who have kids. My son made friends with a boy his age that he met at the park. We will definitely return to Troncones and stay at the Inn at Manzanillo Bay.

Room Tip: If you need a/c, go with the apartment. We stayed in bungalow #8 which was ocean front.

My Family and I went down to Troncones Mexico this past Dec (2011) for 12 days. We stayed at the Inn and had an amazing time....again!!!!
Micheal and his staff make our trip so wonderful every year. The property is in pristine condition and the food and drinks the restaurant offer are so delish. I look forward to eating there every time we head down and you have to have one of the Margaritas....best margy anywhere in Troncones.
Our days were spent surfing (husband and son), swimming in the ocean and pool, snorkeling, horseback riding, reading, drinking, eating and meeting amazing people.
Its our favorite place to go every year and the minute we get home from one trip we are booking our next trip back.

The inn at Manzanillo bay offers everything you could want for a wonderful get-away. The bungalows are comfortable and clean and private with lovely little patios. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is excellent. The pool and grounds are beautiful and the view of the ocean is magnificent...What more could anyone want...

They have a great service and quality. A little bit overpriced in some side items so ask the price before ordering. The burgers, the fish tacos, lobster & tuna are great. The breakfast it's good, and bottomless coffe service. Also try the big boy tequila. Very smooth boutique tequila. Ask for service at the beach front.

I stayed for 5 nights in a bungalow, no air conditioning (but didnt need it) The hotel is great, the pool excellent, friendly staff, the restaurant food very good but some items pricey (4 bucks for a side of bacon) and on the other hand you can get a excellent lobster tail for just 25 bucks. The bungalows are neat and have their own terrace and hammock. Its a great place to relax and enjoy the beach, manzanillo bay it's beautiful. I agree with the comment about the shower towels, they could be better, and also the Internet service (which is 5 bucks a day) will only work near the restaurant. Try the big boy tequila (great boutique tequila) And ask for service by the beach. overall the hotel it's one of the best in troncones, I will be back some time soon. Totally worth it.

Room Tip: The bungalows at the beach front or the suites with a/c.

The Inn at Manzanillo Bay is absolutely lovely. When you arrive the tropical atmosphere of the grounds and the "bungalows" immediately sets the scene and makes you realize you are definitely "on vacation." The decor and all the special touches (light sconces, gate handles) show how much attention has been given to make the Inn comfortable and welcoming and the staff is accommodating, friendly and efficient. The grounds are beautifully cared for...the pool is crystal clear. Everything is clean and neat.

The immaculate beach is right there and you can enjoy it while relaxing on one of the comfortable lounge chairs or while sitting and having a drink or some of the great food at one of their ocean front tables. The staff will serve drinks and meals in the restaurant or beachfront or on your bungalow patio for that matter.. The menu is good but they are also willing to cook to your order. In fact, while we were there one us celebrated a birthday and the entire meal was made especially to order for our group,,,,and they even decorated the table!

The only negatives I can come up with are that they could provide nicer bath towels (they were rough) and table lamps for those who like to read in bed!

There are a number of small hotels and restaurants along the beach road. It is a long beach where you can jog or walk. Troncones is a quiet, peaceful place, ideal for a relaxing vacation....especially at the Inn at Manzanillo Bay.

We just returned from our second visit to the Inn at Manzanillo Bay and I'm very happy to report to all my friends that warned Mexico is too dangerous that despite their concerns, we found Troncones to be very quiet, totally trouble-free, peaceful and relaxing.

First of all, I noticed a previous Tripadvisor posting indicating the surf break in front of the Inn at Manzanillo Bay is no good. If you're a surfer, you know the break there is frequently surfed by expert surfers and pros alike. Furthermore, if you surf, you know to check the online surf reports to see for yourself how often and how well the surf breaks there. For those of you who don't already know, www.swellmagnet.com is an excellent website to check Troncones surf. And as for the review re the bed being too hard, well, I understand how bad beds can ruin a trip but I typically enjoy a really soft cushy bed but I actually had no problems whatsoever sleeping on the bed at the Inn and that applies to both our visits, the one in 2009 and our most recent trip there last week.

We love the Inn and brought two friends with us this trip who found the Inn and its staff (thank you Belem, Cesar, Esteban, Dario, Winn, Mike) just as charming, comfortable and accommodating as we promised they would. The property is consistently and immaculately maintained and the gardens are virtually manicured daily. And love the showers in the bungalows. ALWAYS instant hot water! The restaurant has a varied menu serving seafood, pasta, ribs, fajitas and more. All meals nicely prepared and reasonably priced (Breakfasts start at around $5, Dinners start at around $14, depending on the peso/US exchange). Personally, we would have liked to have seen more traditional Mexican fare the menu (if you're reading this Inn at Manzanillo Bay, this is one of our suggestions) but we still enjoyed every meal.

The weather and water were both lovely, the beach beautiful and the days long (it doesn't get dark until 7 p.m.) allowing lots of time to snorkel, boogie board, surf, laze, go shelling or enjoy an eco-tour adventure (bird watch, visit the falls or an archeological site with William of Blue Morpho Eco Tours). We can't think of a better vacation spot in Mexico. And the rates for paradise are getting better! We just received a promotional e mail from the Inn offering an ocean view bungalow for $88 plus tax for a minimum 4-nite from February 15th thru 25th or $98 from March 4th thru 21st . We'll be going back. Oh, I almost forgot. We spoke to several people at the Inn who just came down for the day. They were staying or living in Zihuatenejo but came down to Troncones and booked a day room to enjoy the beautiful beach in front of the Inn and all the facilities of the Inn has to offer. If you're already booked for ZIH or Ixtapa, take a day to check out the Inn!

Room Tip: All bungalows have ocean views but # 1 and # 8 are ocean front, if that matters to you. Or if you n...
