My husband and I took our son (8 yrs old) to Troncones for a week the beginning of February. Troncones is a sweet little town that is perfect for people who are looking for something a little more authentic and not so 5-star, all-inclusive, never leave the compound type place. The people in Troncones are the nicest I've encountered anywhere, including those associated with the Inn at Manzanillo Bay. The grounds are immaculate, the food is amazing and the staff is excellent. We stayed three nights in the air conditioned apartment and two nights in the ocean front palapa. Both were great. We especially appreciated having both the ocean and pool within steps. Take snorkel gear. My son spent hours in the tide pools. One word of caution: watch out for sea urchins. They're easily avoidable if you know what you're looking for. The weather was perfect and so were the accommodations at the Inn. Thank you Michael, Winn, and the rest of the crew! The food at the Inn was great and my husband and I actually thought the bill would be higher at the end of the trip. (Michael, if you're reading this, this is not a suggestion to raise the prices!) I should also mention that Troncones has a little skatepark for those of you who have kids. My son made friends with a boy his age that he met at the park. We will definitely return to Troncones and stay at the Inn at Manzanillo Bay.
