A great place for couples and surfers. Not really kid friendly. Super mellow low key spot. Very different from a resort vibe. We loved the bungalows and the price can be negotiable.

The bungalows are very nice and clean but they have no privacy whatsoever - the doors and windows have no curtains and you can easily see through them. The showers have hot water but it's supplied by an appliance attached to the shower head that is not very effective and shocks you if you touch it!
The pool, bungalow and restaurant areas are beautiful and very well kept. The beach front 'lounge area" is not nice at all - some of the beach chairs are broken, instead of sand it has pebbles that hurt bare feet, it's fenced of with barbwire and they have no umbrellas or chairs on the actual beach (other hotels on the bay do.) Service is mainly good but not constant.

We do offer both shaded and unshaded areas for guest on the beach. The unshaded areas are screened by Palm Trees and are prefered my most. Chairs can also be set around the pool or on the beach for direct sun. Our water heaters have been converted to conventional ones ( we are still waiting for the last few to arrive )as some guest did not care for the water saving systems. Please look at our photo gallery for room and beach shots - you will see they are quite private ( no common walls ) and all rooms are screened and curtained.

My wife and I traveled here in October 2010 and timed it just right by missing the rainy season. The roads were a little rough getting from Ixtapa Airport out to Troncones, but plenty doable with a standard 2wd rental car. The Inn at Manzanillo Bay is definitely a little oasis out in the middle of the jungle, but on the beach. My wife and I like to experience the culture of places we go and didn't feel we could completely do that by staying in Zihuatanejo the whole trip. So the first three nights we stayed in Troncones.

This town is mostly unheard of to most tourists, but the surfing is excellent right out of the hotel's courtyard. There's several other world-class surfing spots just North up the coastline, one being La Saladita. We had a bungalow closest to the ocean and the view from our bedroom was amazing. Rooms are simple and cozy, but other than sleeping at night we didn't hang out in it all that much. It was kept very clean and had all the necessary amenities, but don't come expecting a 5 star resort type of setting. You're off the beaten path away from the tourist hustle and bustle. If you want that, stay in Ixtapa! There is no A/C in bungalow rooms, so depending on when you travel it can be kind of humid. They did provide us with a fan which we used, but it wasn't really essential. Back off the water above the Surf Shop are a couple of fully enclosed rooms you can rent that do have A/C in them if you feel it’s essential. There are also bug screens that you can put around your bed if you feel it necessary. We didn't really need it though.

There's a beautiful pool in the courtyard to relax in and the wife was able to get her morning water aerobics workout. The restaurant there was very good as well with my favorite menu item being the Surf 'n Turf. We arrived shortly after a local power outage due the heavy rains and when most of the residences and definitely food businesses had no refrigeration we were treated to a hotel that has a backup generator system to keep lights on and more importantly your refrigerated food from spoiling. Getting sick the first couple of days there would have definitely put a damper on the trip. There are other places to eat locally, but this was by far the safest bet and it was very convenient. Plus there was wireless internet and American football available to watch.

The owner of the place lives there as well and was very personable! We spent a lot of time talking with him in the restaurant and pool during our stay. He pointed us in the right direction on what to see and where to go and was just a nice down to earth guy in general.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone who likes to get away from the typical resort hotels. It's quiet, comfortable, clean, friendly, and fun! I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to go back someday.

We have been traveling to Troncones since 2000 & have stayed at the Inn many times. Well decorated separate casitas surround a well maintained pool. The location on Manzanillo Bay offers a sweeping vista across a perfect sandy beach. There is a world class surf break at the point close to the hotel. A full range of surfing equipment is available for rental. Fishing trips can be arranged. The restaurant serves delicious international food & there are other good dining choices close by. Live music on Tuesdays. Mike the owner produces his own excellent brand of tequila - Big Boy. You are guaranteed a relaxing vacation.

Spent a week here over the xmas holidays and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves every minute. We would have stayed another week if it weren't for the fact that we had a wedding to attend in Zihaut.
From the moment we arrived, Randall took care of us and made us feel at home.
The gardens reminded us of our villa in Tuscany except even better because of the proximity of the crystal clear ocean.
The Bungalows are very romantic and the sound of the fountain dulls any hint of sound from any other guests.
We ate three meals a day and were never bored of the selection of meals offered. Everything looked and tasted fantastic!
The owner, Mike's "Big Boy" tequila was of the finest i've ever had!
We both really felt at home here and can't wait until we return.
A first class joint!

My trip to Mexico was spectacular, and I give credit to this Inn. The rooms were clean and cozy... The view ofthe ocean.. But especially the restaurant! The meals blew me away. Fresh vegetables paired with delectable meat dishes. All of the food had a traditional Mexican taste and aroma. We especially loved the homeade breakfasts, and the delicious potato side dish! Yum! If you stay here you really wont want to leave..

The mornings usually begin with a peek out the private bungalow window to see what the morning session looks like.

A point break to myself...again?

Within 5 minutes I'm paddling out. After some fun, clean, head high surf, I paddle back in, use the outdoor shower, sip on some coffee and sit down for amazing breakfast.

All mornings should begin like this : )

There is so much to do around the inn, horseback riding, snorkeling in the bay, the inn even offers massages. Don't forget to experience the baby sea turtle hatching at sunset–an amazing experience. Oh yeah, and the inn makes their own tequila–Big Boy Tequila. Take a few sips and chase it with a dip in the pool. The staff is very attentive, food delicious, service fantastic. 'Mexican vacations don't get better than this.
