“Another great visit”
Reviewed 23 March 2014

This is the second time we have stayed at the La Hacienda Bahia Paracas. We arrived extremely early in the morning since we arrived via bus from Aerequipa. The hotel staff were very welcoming and allowed us to store our bags and relax until the room was ready and made sure we were taken care of in the meantime. Surprisingly, we were upgraded to a full suite at the outskirts of the resort. The suite was more than enough room for two and gave us the feeling of home. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We had the most contact with Roy who was a pleasure. We found out that night that there was a conference there for the time we were staying and that we were upgraded so that we would not be bothered by the attendees. Yes they were loud at times, but we even mingled with them at night and it added to our experience. In the suite, we never heard a sound from the gathering. The restaurant was exceptional and the staff were a joy. My only point of criticism would be some fine touches in the suite that needed to be fixed, paint, shower curtain, and some minor issues. We stayed for three nights on the end of our Peruvian trip. Our stay, once again, at La Hacienda made our trip a memorable and we hope to visit again!

We had dinner there few days ago. The food menu was large with many options but prices are ridiculous high for the final product which was tasteless.
Besides, they will charge a cover fee per customer of 12 soles ($4 USD) plus 13% service tax instead of the 10% service tax most of the restaurants in Peru charge.
The hotel and restaurant were empty, no wonder why....

Paracas is still very much developing its tourist scene, but, arriving at the little town, it looked like a fun place to be. Shame, then, that our reserved hotel was several kilometres out of the centre. Shame also that the taxi they promised to book us to meet the bus was forgotten, and that any phone numbers on the website or guidebook were for a main office with limited hours in Lima. Arriving on a public holiday with young children, this was a poor start. There was no apology for the taxi, just a kind of amused “not quite sure what you’re talking about” look from duty receptionist. Then – let’s insist that all party members (right down to age 2) fill out and SIGN a separate registration form. Come on guys – first impressions count! All your polite, uniformed staff count for nothing if your procedures are rubbish.
OK – let’s start again.
The impressive entrance gate had a uniformed staff member who confirmed our identity from a list and welcomed us up the drive to the beautiful reception area. Spotlessly clean, this hotel is build from light materials and is littered with lush plants, creating a pleasant environment. Two more uniformed porters took our cases to the room and showed us around.
The bedroom and bathroom were generously proportioned with a sensitive use of stone, wood and glass. Bed linen was of high quality, beds were double (not kingsize) and very comfortable and the cot requested was present (albeit a small travel cot). Air con a little over-powering, but we managed to find the off-switch.
The hotel building is well-maintained and spotless. Walking out of our corridor we found an enormous pool. The area was well landscaped with many trees, and it backed seamlessly onto a private strip of beach. As the sun set, there was sea, distant mountains and the nicest strip of luxury houses in the distance, creating an idyllic backdrop to the underwater-lit pool with subtle music.
Most rooms have a private balcony adjoining the room. Ours faced a little courtyard, some led straight into the pool, while others (probably the most expensive) faced the open sea.
The hotel has a number of restaurants and bars, and we selected one on our first night. There was a good range of interesting dishes, including some simple and quick food for the children. Food was tasty and service was very good, and the prices were actually quite reasonable. So, why then ruin it all by slapping a load of unseen service charges, taxes and cover charges onto the bill at the end? Oh, I remember – it’s because it’s much too far to go anywhere else for dinner.
Staff were all genuinely very helpful, with a cheery “Buenos Tardes” as you passed. There were people on hand to entertain our kids during certain hours, and always someone to assist.
There is a little shop with eye-watering prices, and various excursions at much more than you would pay elsewhere.
Since the tap water is undrinkable, a supply of drinking water should have been provided free of charge (this was the only hotel we stayed in in the whole country which did not provide drinking water and hot drinks) rather than inviting guests to purchase mineral water from the bar. Fortunately there was an un-frequented gym just opposite our room with a water dispenser which we used to fill our bottles, but at this price we shouldn’t have to steal water. So I was left with the over-whelming contradictory feelings: I was in the most lovely place, while being ripped off mercilessly. I don’t mind a good hotel charging a high price, but I object to being milked.
So, message to the hotel: be honest and reasonable with your charging, don’t allow slippages and try to see how the customer might like to do things (eg phoning you).
Message to the rest of you: this is a genuinely gorgeous oasis of beauty and comfort. Choose your room carefully and read the small print.

Room Tip: Ask if it faces the sea or the pool and take your pick (actually rooms facing the courtyards are nic...

The hotel is a bit on a limb geographically, unless - as we were - you want to fly over the Nasca Lines. But a superb hotel. Try for a room facing the sea - the view across the bay is superb.
Only minor quibble was that the aircon in the room was too noisy to sleep, so we opened the window. They have mozzers!
Very quiet indeed - so no problems with space to eat and drink - excellent restaurant and poolside bar. A really good swimming pool.
Cant understand the complaints about the staff -they were excellent and very attentive, but not pushy. Their English ws pretty good.

La Hacienda Hotel is hands down the best place tu stay in Paracas. Its a water front hotel in front of the bay where you can prcatice several water spotrs (kite surfing, wind surfing, sailing, water ski, Stand Up Paddle, etc), the view is spectacular, the facilities are amazing, the staff is super kind and friendly, and for me personally the best aspect of the hotel is that even if it is fully occupied with guests, you can rest and relax because there is no loud music or people yelling!

When I return to Paracas I will be staying in "La Hacienda", for sure!!

Room Tip: Virtually every room has a view of the bay, so its a no brainer!!

Back from a most adventurous week spent journeying across the Manu Biosphere National Reserve and the Madre de Dios, and before we would venture into the wilderness of the Upper Amazon River Basin, we thought it might be a good thing to just get ourselves to the Pacific Ocean and stay there for a few days, just doing absolutely nothing.
A nice place, with good food, and a nice comfy room with a view... Our travel agent picked "La Hacienda Bahia Paracas" for us. She knew the place well, and she thought this might be exactly what we could and would enjoy. She was right!
The moment we stepped into the lobby, kindly serviced by the great staff, and opened the door to our spacious suite, we felt we had arrived.
Everything about our lodging was absolutely perfect, the position, the nice bathroom, the comfortable king-size bed, and the panoramic balcony.
In fact, as soon as we put down our suitcases, we walked past our bedroom and onto the balcony: there, beyond the beautifully manicured gardens inlaid by a grand, fantastic pool, we were facing the beach and the ocean.
The sunsets happened to be simply breathtaking, and we would enjoy them from our balcony or while relaxing in the large jacuzzi next to the pool.
We took long daily walks on the beach, just us, and maybe an occasional fisherman here and there. Most of the other guests were going on tours, leaving early, some to the Nazca Lines, others to the dunes, or out at sea to see the seals and the whales.
The food at the restaurant was simply exquisite. Every night we chose something different and we were never disappointed. A couple times we sat in front of the fireplace after dinner, sipping white wine and enjoying the cozy atmosphere.
Their boutique offered a nice variety of items, mostly handcrafted. I ended up shopping for the typical colorful textiles of the area (2 beautiful hand-bags), and an awesome silver and gold jewelry set I was surprised to find at such reasonable price.
The resort has also a Spa for those who wish to get treatments and massages.
We surely look forward to an "encore".

Room Tip: Our room was on second floor of central building, right in the middle. Perfect!

A MUST STAY destination in Peru. Hotel La Hacienda Paracas is a gorgeous property located at heart of the bay of Paracas. The views are spectacular, and the sunsets unforgettable. The rooms are all extremely comfortable with heavenly beds, quilts and pillows, full A/C and mini bars. The decor is exquisite, surrounded with the traditional bugamvilias plants all ver, and traditional wooden pergolas along the white impeccable building structures. It really makes you feel being in a small paradise. The pool runs along a large patio with view to the beach and the ocean. A real paradise to enjoy some peace while indulging some sun bathing. The food is exceptional, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their seafood is extremely fresh, and they run their own bakery which makes all their breads and pastries extremely fresh and delicious. Their bar is outstanding, sharing a collection of great pictures and decor of Hemingway, Pisco Punch, Pisco Sour and more. The Cocktails are extraordinary and is the perfect place to enjoy the best pisco in Peru. Nearby we visited the bird sanctuary and the most amazing views of the desert structures meeting the ocean. Fishing, sailing and even surfing is all available within minutes, and for the wine and spirit aficionados, the wineries and pisco distilleries are just 45 minutes away. We enjoyed the spa while the kids enjoyed learning to kite surf. An unbelievable vacation!!
