The small village of Huanchaco has many many hotels. The most of these places are run by families who are benefitting of the upcoming tourism in this region.

This small hotel has a few rooms to rent for a good price. You can use a communal kitchen if you like. There are several small supermarkets, restaurants and a bakery nearby.

The time we arrived in Huanchaco wasn't the best time of the year. Rather cold than warm and cloudy all day. Therefore we only spent one night in this hotel and visited the chan chan-complex over there.

The owner is a very friendly man and tries really hard to communicate without knowing much English. But after all, with the translation books and some help we managed to get what we wanted.

This hotel is a clean and safe place to stay when the season is right.
If you go to Huanchaco or Trujillo from Lima, try to take the day-bus which allows you to see much more or the spectacular surroundings of Peru.

Room Tip: Don't accept room 1 if you don't want a room with no windows. Room 3 and 4 are excellent...

We had an amazing and comfortable 3 night stay. Cheap private rooms (which are cleaned every day), about 1 block from the beach, and wonderful service! The owners are very friendly, helpful and gave us great advice on getting around Huanchaco and Trujillo. Plus, he makes his own cremoladas (which will change your life). I would definitely recommend staying here!

Nice owners with a good eye on security. Carlos was really helpful in booking buses and giving advice about getting into Trujillo.
The room was clean and just one block back from the beach.
Really nice stay, I enjoyed it.

While the family is nice and the cremoladas (snow cones made of condensed milk) are tasty, this wasn't at all what I expected for a best bargain travel award winner. Despite a big sign on the street that says 15 soles a person, the price was 40 soles for a high season room for one. They did explain later as they held up an updated sign that it was just old, but it's still a raw deal for a solo traveler as they told me (again despite the sign) that there were no single rooms. I was put in a room with three beds by myself near the kitchen on the first floor that was constantly loud with other guests and some thumping bass from who knows where. Bugs constantly entered the room at night despite only having an unfortunate window that couldn't even be latched shut to the hallway (not safe!) and a closed skylight. There are a lot of television stations available, with many English options and the shower is both hot and has great pressure. The former kitchen set up in my bathroom was strange. The kitchen was a former restaurant kitchen and has a lot of equipment but zero shared things (not even salt), as I was coldly told by another guest. Overall an unpleasant situation that wasn't helped by having the family tell me it's calmer and quieter in upstairs as I left after one awful night.

Good value for money, small with about 5 rooms. Everything was nice and clean, excellent hot showers, comfy beds, cable tv and access to a decent kitchen. 30 seconds to the beach and Huanchaco seafront in a nice, safe feeling side street.

Highly recommend this place, cheaper in town but stay here if nothing for the friendly staff and wonderfully excentric owner with his hats and obsession for cleanliness!

Would stay again.
