“Clean, Welcoming, Comfortable!”
Reviewed 14 September 2013

We stayed at Chimu Beach for 2 weeks and loved it. It was the cleanest hostal we visited in Peru. Simon and his brothers were extremely welcoming and helpful. The definition of perfect hosts! We felt like we became friends with them and would go back to Haunchaco to specifically see them. They are very knoledgable about the area and how to get around and always seemed happy to talk with us and help us out. We would highly recommend staying at Chimu Beach! Great location, comfortable and clean rooms, hot showers, etc!

We ended up staying 4 nights as we found Huanchaco really relaxing. This hostel is good value for money $19 for a double room with a shared bathroom per night. There are much cheaper dorms/rooms in Huanchaco, but we felt really comfortable here. The bathrooms were really clean and shared 1 per 2 rooms. Breakfast was really good (egg, bread, jam and butter, juice and tea/coffee). Simon was really helpful and friendly. There weren't any panels above our door and windows (just holes) but he put in glass in 2 of the 3 gaps for us. The hostel is really quiet, so not a problem that there are gaps above the doors. There was loudish live music from the bar next door until about 11pm and faint music until 12.30am on Thursday, but other than that all we could here at night time was the sea. On the Saturday there were people in the street making noise until 5am in the morning which kept another room awake at the front of the hotel. I'd recommed going for a room without a balcony at the back of the hotel as less noisy (also $5 cheaper). The hostel is on Los Pinos only 200m from the sea and about 500m from the main restaurants and bars.

Room Tip: I'd recommed going for a room without a balcony at the back of the hotel as less noisy (also $5...

Simon, one of the owners, makes it a pleasant stay! He's passionate about his job and takes it serious that you want to have a nice stay. He speaks english and helped me speaking spanish. Allthough I had a couple of critical points, it's a good hostel. And the best thing is that Simon wanted to know my feedback so they can improve their new hostel. The rooms are big (male and female), shower is warm, good location near the beach and the bars. Take notice that it can be noisy near the rooms (depends on other travellers) and they are bright. Kitchen is basic. If you want to go somewhere just ask the owners. If you are a surfer, the hostel is perfect for storing your stuff, drying your wetsuit and you can walk barefoot to the beach

Clean, cheap, friendly, kind, guitars, kitchen, wifi, hot shower, fun, BBQ.
I was supposed to stay in Huanchaco only for a couple of days, but since Simon, the owner, and the other stuff and the people staying here were all awesome, I've spent almost 2 months here at Chimu Beach.
I've been travelling around Latin America for 11 months for now and this hostel is the best hostel ever. You'll love it!

I really recommend this hostel to all of you. I was in Peru last year for more than 8 months and I spent quite a lot of time and weekends in Huanchaco. I always chose to stay in Chimu Beach because the owners Carlos and Simon are very friendly and helpful guys and - important as well - good cooks and musicians. They know a lot about culture and surfing and the beach is just a 2 minute walk away. It was always great fun being there. Rooms are clean and the last year it became even better, so if you go to the beautifull village of Huanchaco, you should decide to stay in Chimu Beach. Knowing that, it is a cheap hostel as well :)

me and my friends had a very valuable time at Chimu Beach, because is very close to the beach and the owners Simon and Carlos are very friendly, the place is so homely and is very cheap (20 soles = 8 dollars approximately), also there are a lot of restaurants and shops near.
