This was our Second trip to Richmond Barracks and the service was as good as it was last time. I cant say it was better than last time as i couldnt fault it last time. Anyway i visited Richmond Barracks with more family this time and rented 2 units from the proprietors Martin and Liz. As always we had a warm welcome and were offered the service of being collected from the Airport. We rented a minibus this time so declined the Airport collection, but its always nice to be asked. We rented the Lady Esther and the Cellar units this time and both were immaculately kept and nice and warm on our arrival. We stayed for 5 nights this time as i wanted to show the family i had with me around the most interesting sights in the local area and find Richmond Barracks very close to the village for the shops and local restaurants etc and roads leading into the village. We started our days with a more than adequate Breakfast and this set us up for our days of sight seeing, although getting out of the comfortable beds is very difficult sometimes. ( I must ask Martin and Liz where they get there Beds from !!!! ) Liz also planned a few days out for myself and the family as she remembered were we visited last year and managed to get us some very good family discounts on Truan Air walk and Cascade Brewery Visits. I cant speak highly enough about Tasmania, Richmond and especially Richmond Barracks and would recommend a visit here anytime. We always come away feeling like we have been treated like one of the family and i will certainly visit again in the Future. Well done again Martin and Liz, keep up the good work. Someone reccommended Richmond Barracks to me and was so pleased they did. 10 out of 10 yet again.

We finished our 15 night tour of Tasmania here for two nights and honestly can't express how lovely it was. Spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable, lovely crisp bed linen which smelled so fresh. The continental breakfast included in the price was unbelievable, Elizabeth and Martin couldn't have made us more welcome along with their lovely dog Bruno! The Barracks are a credit to them and we would love to stay there again. Excellent value for money.

Very friendly hosts.Clean and spacious,a lovely bed.The breakfast basket was generous. An ideal location to explore Hobart and surrounds. We stayed 5 nights (3 at the start of our trip and two at the end).Good day trips to Port Arthur, and Russell Falls and a nice peaceful place to return to.Walking distance to Richmond shops and the Bridge.I travelled with my 80year old mother and stayed in The Retreat which has a queen and a king single. We enjoyed the seperate lounge/kitchen area.Plenty of heating, even in the bathroom.a wonderful experience and I would not hesitate to recomend.easy drive to the airport (15mins).

Lovely cottage, beautifully finished & the breakfast provisions were very good. Location was great, being a short walk to Richmond Bridge & the shops. The bed was also very comfortable....unfortunately I spent much more time in bed than I would have liked. Arrived feeling sick as a dog with a stomach bug and apart from a quick walk/stagger around Richmond for an hour, slept from around 2pm to 5am next morning.

Very friendly hosts, perfect location in beautiful historic village of Richmond. Idyllic surrounds and ideal location for exploring Hobart and surrounding area. Decided to stay here based on positive reviews, and was not disappointed. Generous breakfast basket provided, but found other meals in the area a bit pricey (understandable - a tourist area). The rooms are equipped with fridge, tv, microwave, - tea and coffee etc.. Very clean and modern interior, and delightfully renovated rooms. there was heating/aircon if required. Would recommend and would stay here again. Handy location to airport - (15 min drive). The Barracks looks like the photos on the website. contacted the owners direcly, and emailed our details. Prompt and courteous communication.
