This was the most interesting exhibit I’ve
seen and one of the men that was involved
in excavation was there and talked with him. Great story!

This was a stop we didn’t intend on doing, but we’re sure glad we did. Walking around the City Market, we stumbled on to this place. Worth the money and the time!

What do you do when you find a perfectly preserved steam-boat, you turn it a museum. This museum came about because they wanted to preserve what they found. So, you have a museum with everything they found. Most are items that were needed out West. This is truly a snapshot of the past. They put everything they found in this museum. If there were hundreds of an item than they all will be put in the museum. They said it will years before the preserve everything they found and put it out. They also have a short guided tour to start with that includes a video about the family's dig. You are then allowed to look around and learn more about steam boats. This is in the City Market so the KC goes there and there are other things to do.

I had previously heard of this river boat excavation but we were completely unprepared for the extensive displays of this museum.
This is an amazing place and the exhibits are spectacular. This is "must see" venue and we'll be back. We only had an hour for our visit and I recommend planning a visit of at least two hours to really take in everything. Kudos to the family and all those who have contributed to this facility.
