If you're any type of art lover, from amateur to professional, you will love this museum. They have an excellent variety of artwork, and the overall look and feel of the place is fantastic. Definitely bring a lunch in the summer and sit out on the front lawn in the shade of one of the famous shuttlecocks - definitely an experience to remember!

I would highly recommend the Nelson-Atkins Museum for a visit in K.C. The outdoor sculptures are very nice; we especially enjoyed going through the Glass Labyrinth. There were several different types of art inside that I unfortunately didn't get to see much of. I look forward to a return visit with just my husband as our children weren't really that interested in most of it (ages 6 & 8).

Wonderful museum to visit. You will be very pleasantly surprised. Very good permanent collections and also seem to always have special exhibits. Take your time and allocate several hours or break the visit into two or more visits since it is free of charge. The museum restaurant is also very good, lunch ends at 2:00 though. My party enjoyed visiting the museum twice in our visit to KC which was less than a week.

Similar to the Getty, the foundation has made the entrance free to the public and you pay for parking. We were staying nearby so we could just walk over, see one floor and come back another day. The sculpture garden on the front side of the building is okay with a glass maze. I would forego that if you are short on time. There are some major pieces here that surprised me. Enjoy!
