Due to summer school and work schedules, we had to take our summer vacation road trip from 05/16-05/20/2013. We originally reserved (and paid for) our cottage reservation through the WOF website in March and the resort had us on a payment plan of four monthly installments. This was convenient for us financially because we had our cottage along with two day park tickets paid for by the time we got there so the only thing we had to worry about was extra spending money & getting there.
We checked into our cottage by early afternoon and the staff at the check in desk were very polite and helpful. After getting in to our cottage, we were impressed at the size of the cottage. If you look at the outside of the cottage, it looks tiny but decent size for 5 people (four adults, one child) staying there. The grill outside the cottage is pretty small so if you want to, you can bring a small charcoal or gas grill with you if you are planning to cook more meat on there. Plan to bring stuff to clean the grill with. We already anticipated that since we always carry extra cleaning and grilling stuff with us on road trips so it came in handy when we cleaned it before we grilled.
The cleanliness of our cottage was pretty good. Everything looked cleaned down good and almost brand new with a "clean" smell to the cottage as if it just got a good spring cleaning. There were more than enough towels in the cabin and even a small handtowel for the little kitchen area. They do come into your cottage daily around late morning to replace the towels and empty the trash but don't expect them to make up your beds. The bed is pretty stiff but there were bedding for the bunk beds, the full size bed, and even bedding for the futon couch in the bathroom closet. The air conditioner in the cottage is set to automatic so if you are one of those families that like to keep the AC at full blast all day, keep in mind that it will turn off & on throughout the day so trying to manually adjust it will be hard without going to the front desk to do it. At night, we ended up opening the windows to let the cool night breeze into our room.
The kitchen area is pretty basic with no stove or oven. It has a microwave and small refrigerator. We brought a medium electric skillet to cook in and also had an extra cooler that helped store half of our refigerator foods and drinks. They had nice deck chairs on the deck and a decent table (seats up to 4) along with a few more chairs throughout the cottage. We didn't utilize the laundry facilities there but our "neighbor" next to us said they were pretty good when they went to do a couple of loads.
The location of the resort is within 10 miles of restaurants, shopping, gas stations so if you plan to eat out instead of cooking there, you won't have a hard time finding a place nearby.
The Worlds of Fun (WOF) entrance to the park is on the other side of the cottages so you will have to drive around the corner (barely 1/2 mile) to get to their parking lot. The Oceans of Fun (OOF) park entrance is right next to the cottages so it's more convenient to get to Oceans of Fun Park from the cottages.
Overrall, this was a good trip and stay there at the WOF resort village. We are definitely going to be doing this again next year.
