I stayed at this hotel with my husband and 2 small children for 3 nights. The location is fantastic and the staff was more than friendly. We needed housekeeping to change the bedding in the middle of the day and they were in and out w/i 25 mins and could not have been nicer.

The breakfast was pretty decent. I have a problem complaining about free food. The selection to choose from was better than we expected and the staff kept everything full. We made our own waffles, my kids had cereal and fruit, my husband had the eggs and bacon one day and biscuits and gravy the next. Our only complaint we had was the coffee. It was horrible, but we are picky coffee drinkers.

The room, hallways, grounds, lobby, and parking lot were always very clean! There was always someone cleaning the parking lot. The pool and hot tub were fine. We were impressed. If we ever return to KC, we will be staying here again and I would recommend it to anyone.

We had to go to Kansas City last week during the MLB All-Star game, and were fortunate enough to find a room at the Fairfield. We were treated there like family! The front desk was ably manned by Mr. Parks and Ms. Nadvish, both of whom were both hilarious and helpful, the way dear relatives are. There were also great homemade cookies for the guests at Reception. Our room was very clean, very roomy, and the Wi-Fi (free) worked perfectly. Our bed was exceedingly comfortable and we slept away the seafood and BBQ we'd so thoroughly enjoyed that day. Parking was instantly accessible in the lot the hotel owns, and we could zip around either to Country Club Plaza, or downtown, etc., without any trouble at all.

Room Tip: Ask for the 4th floor, #422, looking straight down Main towards the WWI monument and downtown.

We stayed here in June 2012 and chose it for its location. We usually stay here whenever we visit Kansas City. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We arrived late and the security guard and front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. In fact, all the staff were friendly, greeting us and asking us if everything was okay with our stay. The fresh baked cookies in the afternoon were a nice treat. Breakfast was typical hotel lobby breakfast foods but I'm not complaining. We felt safe with the security guard at night but wondered why that was necessary. Biggest plus is for the location.

We just stayed at this hotel for the 4th of July. We checked in late at night and the associate was very helpful. The hotel is clean and the bed is very comfortable. Nice clean linens, not those musty throws you still see in so many hotels. Overall good value. My GPS took me through a sketchy part of town to get to the hotel. I was a little scared that the location would be bad at first, but it got better and the general location of the hotel was overall fine.

We stayed at the Fairfield Union Hill in June, 2012, The staff was great, but the hotel fell a little short of our expectations. We were given a room on the ground floor that smelled of chlorine. The staff re-assigned us to a room on the top floor that was decent. The WiFi was spotty on the top floor. The hotel is conveniently located but is in a transitional neihborhood. At the time we made the reservation, the website indicated that the hotel had laundry facilities instead of a valet service. The hotel is okay, but is in need of a little TLC.

We went to KC for the weekend to see a show at the new Kauffman Center, hit the museums, etc. Pluses: Great location. Near everything. Quiet room, good beds. Breakfast was pretty good, too.

This isn't a true minus but on Sunday AM I came down the staircase and exited to the street, re-entered to sit down in the lobby to await my wife and kid. The young woman behind the counter proceeded to grill me. Was I a guest? What floor was I staying on? I told her and she went back to doing what she was doing. Now, I understand this is a transitional neighborhood, seemingly getting better all the time, and you can't have street people wandering into your hotel to mooch a free breakfast, but an older white guy in shorts, sandals and T-shirt? That kinda says TOURIST loud and clear. To be fair, the guy at check-in was fast and courteous --

All in all, yes, I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Get a floor away from the street. You could hear the thudding bass from the mobile boom boxes -- aka...

3 night stay, comfortable bed & we both slept well. Nice room with mini refrigerator & microwave, quiet. Great breakfast choices & variety, enjoyed biscuits & sausage gravy, & hard boiled eggs:there were also waffles, hot oatmeal, yogurts, fruits, juices, & even breakfast sandwiches. Pool & hot tub okay. Small exercise rm but also have deal with local gym. Close to everything, got gas at Costco few blocks away, Short drive to Plaza & Crown center, walking distance to fast food, Gates BBQ. Would stay again at price we got!
