“Can't beat the location”
Reviewed 21 July 2013

We've stayed here before and knew Country Club Plaza to be lively, lots of restaurants and shopping within easy walk of the hotel. Room rates are a little pricey but free enclosed parking is a plus for a big city. Their breakfast is excellent, much better than most, with a good selection and well maintained even during busy mornings. Front desk staff was helpful, cheerfully answering several questions during our stay. A few small complaints -- the toilet was the loudest I've ever heard (like a rocket), the easy chair rickety and uncomfortable, reading light was minimal and we heard lots of street noise from our 4th floor room. On the positive side the air conditioning was extremely quiet (nothing ruins sleep in a hotel room worse than a loud one) and the shower was great. All in all you can't beat the location.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor room (9 stories) to minimize street noise

Although it's positioned at the top of a steep hill, the hotel is in a great spot for shopping and dining. The staff were wonderful guiding us to good places to eat. The rooms were clean and comfortable but a bit pricey for this type of hotel. Breakfast was standard but good with many choices. Cash bar and snacks in the afternoon were a nice surprise. The pool area was somewhat run down looking with very murkey water.
All employees were wonderful.

This hotel has everything you need for a relaxing stay near the Kansas City Mo Plaza area. The bedding is wonderful! Secure underground parking, excellent hot breakfast and very quiet being located just off the Plaza. We have stayed there several times while visiting family in Kansas City and will stay there again.

We chose this hotel mainly due to it's good location. Be aware that the room does not even have a refrigerator, so if you want cold cokes bring a cooler. The pool area is pretty nice and the common areas are as well. The rooms are pretty small so I don't recommend it for a long term stay. Check out the balcony off the pool area.

The one negative thing I experienced was a rude front desk clerk. We had 2 rooms reserved and my father was the one who reserved them both simply because he got to it before I did. My husband went to a meeting before both rooms were ready so they gave us the keys to the king bed room and said to come back in a little bit to get the 2 bed room. Well, I did just that but the shift has changed and the new clerk on duty yelled at me that I wasn't authorized and she would not give me the key. I did not want to argue due to having 2 small children with me so we did not even eat breakfast on site because I did not want to face her again. Next time, I will stay someplace else,

Spent 3 weeks driving around the west and stayed here on the way home. At that point, many experiences to compare too. Nothing stuck out about this place and that is a good thing. Check in worked fine, the room was nice and clean, the hotel in good shape, the staff helpful, and the breakfast good. The place is about a block and a half from the plaza for an easy and safe walk. The plaza itself is really an outdoor mall with all of the chain stores and restaurants you would find at a major indoor mall. Just shaped like an old downtown area in this case. It was a nice summer night and the streets were full of people. Plenty of places to eat, but no so much for outdoor seating to have drinks somewhere. Seemed a deliberate decision to keep it a shopping district. But most of the people seemed to be tourists walking around so less need to go into Forever 21 - have one at home. But I digress. It is a cool area and the hotel is perfect if you want to see it.

we stayed for a night and it was comfortable. again, hampton inn does not have a restaurant and so you need to go out to get your food. i really hope they have a restaurant and room food service. the breakfast menu is same in all hampton inn i suppose. since our last stay was for 10 days, it was the same food again. not very exciting. everything else is perfect.

This is an exceptionally nice Hampton Inn. It's been open for several years, but everything about it looks as if it opened this month. The manager obviously know how to manage all aspects of the hotel. Rooms are perhaps a bit smaller than some other Hampton Inns, but they are very comfortable and spotless with no apparent wear. Breakfast is above average for a Hampton. This is a very nice hotel in a superb location just off the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, MO. Anyone who does not know the Plaza needs to find out about it: it is the oldest and one of the truly premier shopping plazas in the US with upscale shopping, many and varied restaurants and one of the most pleasant shopping "outdoor malls" in the country. The Hampton inn is about a block off the Plaza and in a quiet and peaceful location, yet moments away from one of America's finest shopping experiences. Oh yes, free parking on the premises!

Room Tip: We like rooms in the front of the hotel, but all rooms are likely to be nice and quiet.
