This library (including the parking garage facade) is one of the most interesting libraries I have ever been to. It is worth seeing!

Another beautiful restoration job in downtown KC. The books fronting the parking structure are great, but the inside of this library is beautiful. With many fixtures taken from and old bank, the vault as a movie room, the counters for computers and books, this is a wonderful repurposing of beautiful antiques. The high ceilings and marble floors with the big windows make this a light, restive place to study, read or just sit and contemplate. The various areas for art instlations add to the libraries mission of education and outreach. Well done KC!

Most of the history books I want the library only carry a few. Still the case in 2018. Many books are ONLY in Central library where you have to pay to park. Should have more copies and out in other branch libraries. If you want to buy and donate a book they will only take if delivered directly to library by the publishers. Pitiful method! There is more junk books than quality books in libraries and whole subjects have but a few and some of those are not on shelf and where they are no one knows!

I have been to this library a couple times, and every time I go, it fails to impress me. I am not saying in any way that the library is bad, but it doesn’t have anything that makes it stand out at all. I have seen neighbourhood libraries that have impressed me more than the Kansas City Library. If you go, you will still probably find what you are looking for, but if you are looking for something special, this is not the library for you.
