“Fourth year of annual visits”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

My husband and I come to this hotel every year on the third weekend of June for a special event with Bobby Layne & his Orchestra, sponsored by the Southern Rhapsody Dance Society. This is a very large facility with 4 stories of hotel suites, a large indoor pool, spa and sauna, a huge ballroom with hardwood dance floor, two large lobbies, a restaurant and bar. The hotel has a large outdoor pool, tennis courts, racket ball area. Within the area are "villa's" and condos which can be rented or are privately owned.

I agree with many of the previous reviewers which say that this hotel definitely needs a refresh. The décor is 1980's with shiny brass bathroom fixtures and door hardware. All of my pictures of room (#3016) show stains on the light tan carpet and living room furniture. The springs in the chairs were broken, so you sink way down into the chair when you sit. Definitely could use a good reupholsterer. Tiles in the bathtub surround have a black mold ~ needs a good scrubbing or replacement. Tiles are broken in the bathroom. Big mars and marks on the walls of the room ~ needs repainting and repair. So, I didn't bother to add my pictures. No need to add more pictures showing the same damage and deterioration as previous pictures.

The good news is that the facility has a new manager, so I can only hope that upkeep will happen. The small old fashioned TV in the bathroom has been removed. The old fashioned telephones (no, not rotary dial) should be replaced. The old TV sets should be upgraded to new flat screens. The old TV in this room requires 2 remote controls.~ 1 to turn on and volume control, the other to change the channels.

More good news is that this is still a beautiful venue with an amazing view of the mountains and the Lake. Lots of golf courses are near by, marinas are very close to this property, hiking trails are abundant, and nice local restaurants are plentiful. The wonderful staff has been retained by the new management. The staff is friendly and helpful. They do what they can to make the stay very pleasant. We had dinner banquets with each day of our 3 day dance festival. The food is delicious. The servers do their best to serve 200+ people as quickly as possible. They maintain their good humor while trying to keep us all happy with hot food, coffee service, refresh of water and ice tea. I appreciate the work that the staff does for us to make this annual dance party a success.

Room Tip: Use the big carts to move your luggage to your room and back to your car, because the rooms can be a...

Thank you for your review. Many of your suggestions are happening already and we look forward to your next visit so you can witness some of those changes yourself. Some things that are happening: New flatscreen TVs in all of the rooms, painting, and we will begin changing out bedding and draperies in the not too distant future. New carpet is also on the horizon. Again, thank you for your honest review. We will see you soon.

I had always wanted to stay at the Country Club and could not refuse when came across a deal. Later found out that it was a mistake but they honored to price. Love the hotel and definitely will stay there again. Planning a business meeting there now after our stay. Of course there are always things that need to be updated but I have that at home also. Loved the wrap around porch. Had a great time and will stay there again!

Room Tip: Ask for the ones that end in 5. Wrap around porch

This facility has great "bones" as they say in the hotel business in that the building itself was first class when built and remains so today. As any older hotel, maintenance and upkeep are constant, but it looked to me like they are working hard to keep this old girl looking pretty. I would rate a number of the staff as "busting their butts" and the Junior Suites they have for people who travel with pets are outstanding. They do not rape pet travelors with deposits or fees that are crazy. On site food was reasonable, pools are great and location is wonderful now that Lake Ozark traffic issues are fixed because of the new by-pass.

Room Tip: Ask about yard for dog or view for fireworks if those things are important to you.

This resort was definitely not worth the $177/night they charged us. The room was huge and a very nice size, but yes it is very outdated like a lot of reviewers are saying. One of the kitchen cabinets fell of the hindges, one of the sofa cusions had a rip in it. The pull out sofa bed didn't quite fit right and kept sinking into the springs, one of the toilets wasn't even in the tile so when you sat on it, it wobbled. The worst part is there were ants in the kitchen window sill and around the sink area the whole 3 days we were there! Gross! I definitely would go somewhere cheaper for a better quality resort or hotel

Room Tip: Room 221 has a major ant problem in the kitchen

If you expect perfection you won't find it...yet. The hotel was purchased in August and is needing repairs. There are hall carpets that need replaced, the pool tables need new tops, there are cosmetic issues like cracked walls and snagged bed spreads (all bedding was crisp and clean). The tvs are old but they work. Also someone smoked around the elevators I think (but not in our room). Yes there is plenty the new owner is working on but now for the positives. The pool is nice, the hot tub is relaxing, the beds are comfortable, the rooms are huge, the room furniture is very nice, the view is great, the grounds are gorgeous, the fitness area is one of the best I've seen for a hotel, racquetball was fun, the restaurant is charming, and the staff was WONDERFULL! I mean it. The check in ladies helped us because our bill when we checked in was about $30 more than quoted. When I told them they went to work figuring out what went wrong (if you don't book through them they have no power to fix it). The bar tender saw my husband in the lobby and decided to arm him with info on the best places to go (he was also the best server when we ate there and took our pictures more than once). The front desk manager was very helpful tracking down equipment when most everyone was in a meeting (where he was headed). A fitness employee popping in to grab a forgotten item stopped in her rush and hopped the counter to get what I needed. They were all great and I can't wait to see the place fixed up!

Room Tip: Some rooms have balconies, some don't, and some walk out to little courtyards. Decide which you...

The landscaping is appealing. It's proximity to the water is a plus. The lobby areas and hotel hallways appear to have been updated. Has a nice indoor pool. The restaurant service staff (waitresses) are nice. The food preparation time was inconsistent, from 10 minutes to 45 minutes and the 45 minutes was for breakfast. The food was good, so it's just the preparation time that was not. The rooms are clean and a nice size, dated, and in need of some repairs. The bath and kitchen fixtures are old and the tile in the bath and around the tub needs repair. These give the impression of dirty. Usual amenities: Soap, shampoo, coffee. I had a junior suite and it was quite spacious with a nice kitchen counter and two vanities (one inside and one outside of the bathroom). It was a quiet room and the bedding was comfortable.

Outdated, in disrepair, untidy and very disappointing for the price . Glad It was only for one night! We were there for a conference so staying onsite was convenient. Stayed in the villas but I heard similar negative comments about the rooms as well.
