exceptional service all round from the porter to management!

the size of the room was such a pleasure, I usually feel quite claustrophobic in hotel rooms, however the deluxe room at the Colosseum was spacious enough.

The food was excellent !

I will definitly recommend this hotel to leisure and business travellers alike as the hotel is very well located.

I have to concur with the previous reviewer "pawsandclaws" regarding the urgent need for staff training at this hotel - especially Front Desk and Breakfast Room - two points of service that have the potential to make or break a hotel's reputation. YES - the view from our very spacious and wonderfully comfortable suite was stunning and panoramic, stretching as it does from False Bay across to Table Bay with the magnificent Mountain in the middle. BUT, the delays and hassles in actually checking into that room with a view were totally unacceptable! Confusions at check-in as a result of some ridiculous mixup with room allocation and the to and fro backwards & forwards to the Front Desk trying to resolve this, were frustrating and shocking after a long day's journey. Considering we had booked AND paid in full over a month before-hand - this was inexcusable. I won't go into the details of bad service ethic and negligent behaviours of Breakfast Room staff - definitely indicative of an urgent need for training and vigilant supervision!! Having said all this - I must acknowledge that the concern and apologies expressed by a very helpful newly appointed Guest Services Executive (still on probation) went a long way to making amends for the disappointment we felt on this the occasion of a celebratory stay for our wedding anniversary - as did his thoughtful delivery of a cheese platter and bottle of wine. He acknowledged the need for staff training and "attention to detail" in service delivery and I truly believe the hotel management would be wise to harness this gentleman's obvious talents in customer relations and customer care to the good of their enterprise - and make his appointment a permanent one - this would undoubtedly be in their best interests and his.

Room Tip: Obviously a mountain facing room is first prize here and the higher up the better - and closer to Vi...

We overnighted at the Colloseum once in August and another in October.

The August stay was a complimentary upgrade from the Executive suite to a penthouse suite. The penthouse is nice but looked a bit battered and tired compared to the executive suite. We received a lovely gift for women’s month and that was much appreciated. We had an early checkout so really did not make use of the breakfast room.

Our second stay was a fuller one with our room being the preferred executive suite. But really I do not want to pay to see someone else’s toenails scattered on the floor next to my bed. That was pretty disappointing from the usual quality we expect from this hotel. The TV in the bedroom had annoyingly been changed on settings so it was not possible to watch TV in bed as we had hoped, we were already bathed and ready for sleep so were not going to bother calling up assistance. Breakfast was exceptionally irritating. The selection of food is basic but good but oh my to actually get service for coffee and perhaps a second cup of coffee one has to go find someone to come pour it for you. Very frustrating and adding a bit of tarnish to our usual choice for an overnighter.

Checking out, you are charged an extra fee or tax or something obscure. Why that just cant be added on during the check in process I do not understand. Be aware too that the single person room rate is stated on the website add an extra person and that good rate suddenly gets a bit heftier so no more room rate now it is per person.

Still on the whole, nicely situated and perhaps with a bit more attention to detail of cleanliness and breakfast staff the standard we expect from this establishment can still continue.

Great welcome, friendly and helpful staff. One awesome stay. Hubby and I decided that we will be back the same time each year. It's peaceful, relaxing in the evenings and very central....Grant West is 10mins away and so is the V & A Waterfront. You have an awesome view of Table Mountain during the day and in the evening. The dinning area has a lovely setting...great food too. I recommend this hotel to any tourist who really wants to experience the beauty of our lovely Mother City, Cape Town.

Room Tip: Any room that has a view of Table Mountain is a must.

Every 3 months, we travel the whole of S.A, staying at all the main destinations whilst doing business.
Staying only at 4 star hotels and guest houses - The Colosseum was the most memorable 5 night stay and will be "our hotel of choice whist visiting the Cape"
Firstly the hotel was the cleanest ever, everything in the luxury suite worked, the service was impeccable. The "breakfasts included deal;"best spread ever!
Clearly the lounge is vacumed/steamed cleaned daily as the seating arrangement was never the same and found one of the plush chairs to be slightly damp!
Moved onto the only 4 star Hotel in Mossel Bay, will never return.
P.E after 5 years at staying at the 4 star beach Suite hotel, we are looking for a replacement, standards have dropped.
Durban - always stay at Zimbali!

Of our 2 week trip, lout of 4 Hotels, The Colosseum was the best value for money with the
highest levels of service - please keep it up!

Room Tip: We were on the 5th floor in an executive suite - first visit and will be back SOON!!!

I stayed in one of the business suites in early September 2013 for one night. The room was great! more than what I expected. The room had a view of Table Mountain and the Atlantic ocean. The breakfast was very good. It had many items to choose from.
Overall, it was a good experience!
