We spent the night here before starting the Berg Lake trail. The location is perfect, and the view of Mt. Robson is fabulous! Our rooms were delightful and breakfast was delicious. The hosts are friendly and can offer local perspective on the weather, etc. We wish we had made dinner reservations and next time will plan to stay there after finishing our backpacking trip too!

My husband and I travelled from Calgary to Mountain River Lodge for a mini vacation and hiking at Mount Robson Provincial Park. Overall we had a great stay. When we arrived we were met by Claudia who was very pleasant and showed us the amenities. Our room was small (one queen bed) but had everything we needed including flat screen TV, fridge, kuerig coffee maker, separate entrance with a semi- private sitting area for 2 on our deck and AC. We were also invited to use the common deck which is outfitted with conversation seating for 6 or more guests, plus the comfortable living room with large windows overlooking the rushing river and Mount Robson beyond. This room has cozy leather furniture and a stone fireplace. The theme here is mountain getaway with an abundance of wood carvings of the local wildlife on shelves on either side of the fireplace. Curtis and Claudia's 2 small dogs hang around and will accept a pat on the head but are by no means a nuisance. There is also another conversation area on another small close to the river. When we're were there they had put a screened tent on it to protect guests from Mosquitos. The river itself put on quite a show rushing by in pale greens and greys created by what I've learned is called rock flour. The sound from the river drowns out any noise from neighbours and the highway which is fairly close. It's a good thing Claudia and Curtis offer dinner from a set menu for $25 as there are few other options nearby. Our meal was salmon with some kind of dill sauce, rice pilaff and grilled vegetables which they managed despite a problem with their oven, followed by dessert which was a coconut bar with a strawberry for garnish. They suggested we bring our own wine and we dined at their huge table with the other guests (11 all together). This was probably the most enjoyable part of our visit as the other guests shared stories of their travel experiences and plans. We had 3 young (20 plus) couples from the UK, one young man from Germany and a couple our age (40 plus) from Kelowna. We turned in early while the others stayed up late sitting around the fire pit near one of the cabins. The next morning we enjoyed coffee/juice fruit with granola and yogurt followed by blueberry pancakes with bacon. We could have sat there visiting and drinking coffee for a couple of hours but we had hiking to do plus a long drive ahead of us. We hiked up the Bergess trail as far as Kinney Lake which took about 2 hours and 40 minutes at a leisurely pace. The trail head is a 5 minute drive from the lodge. Got back to the visitor centre just in time for lunch and our long drive down the Icefields Parkway and onto Field BC for our second night in the mountains.
We only have couple of complaints about the Mountain River lodge. The first is that the meals left us wanting more. I understand they are likely trying to keep costs down, but we would have enjoyed a larger portion of rice, vegetables and pancakes. And I'm nitpicking now but I picked up a photography book that was in our room (mostly because the author and I share the same last name) and was disappointed that it was printed in 1984. It might be time to ditch the garage sale find and order something more current from amazon.
As I said earlier, overall it was a great stay!

Room Tip: Email the owners for more info... They are very helpful.

Great views Mt. Robson, clean comfortable rooms, delicious breakfasts and dinners and amazingly friendly hosts. If I could give more stars I would! Creek side patio, intimate dinning room with views of Robson, cozy common area and convenient location.

Our group of 14 hikers had a great experience at this beautiful B&B. The bedroom/cabin plan suited our mixed group of couples & singles, and we really appreciated the hearty breakfasts & the option to have dinner there. Curtis & Claudia did everything possible to make us feel welcome & comfortable. We hiked 6 days, but would have loved to have stayed one more day just to enjoy the B&B location with the view of Mt. Robson.

Room Tip: Make sure you know the bed arrangement - most rooms/cabins are suitable for couples. The riverside c...

The Yellowhead Highway is a beautiful drive but accommodation is either dreary and limited or overpriced as in Jasper. The Mountain River lodge is the best iI have found with a great view of Mount Robson, clean, reasonable and best of all a really friendly hosts. Claudia and Curtis provided a good cooked breakfast - and a home cooked dinner which we shared around a table with travellers from Germany and the Netherlands - great conversation as we were in the final rounds of FIFA, bit would have been good anytime. A great place too from which to spend a day or two in Robson Park next time.

Room Tip: Rooms on the main floor have their own outside deck area.

We had a confirmed reservation for 6 months for a specific room for my wife and I and her 84 year old mom...when we got there he told us he switched us to two different rooms, which was unacceptable to us as she needed to room with us. No advance notice at all. When I told him we wanted the room we were confirmed in he told me if I did not want what he had to "get the hell out of here". Hard to believe...we had to drive an hour back to Jasper for a room..Never was treated like this in my 10 years of b & breakfast locations..The owner is a fraud

We stayed three nights in the Riverview Cabin and could not believe the beautiful view from our veranda overlooking the river with Mount Robson in the background. Very well equipped with everything you need, including a gas barbecue and your own fire pit, which Curtis was only too happy to light, although the weather was so hot we declined the offer.

We ate in the lodge one night and the food was delicious including Curtis's Chantilly cream.

We could not fault our stay here and when we think of our trip to the Canadian Rockies we will think of our stay at Mount Robson.

Room Tip: Book early and ask for the Riverview Cabin
