Myself and my wife and our two friends stayed here for two nights over a weekend in May 2014. We were in the area to attend a wedding at the nearby Great Higham Barn.

The location is very remote which is very peaceful. You can walk to the nearby town if you want to visit a pub etc or get taxis to further afield.

We stayed in the larger double room which was superb. Very large, comfortable bed and all mod cons. The bathroom was rather small but perfectly adequate. We enjoyed a freshly cooked breakfast on both mornings, there was also fresh fruit, cereals, pastries etc.

The biggest plus point to this hotel in the personal touch added by the owner, Kate. She ensured we had everything we needed, including cooking breakfast at the time of our choosing, supplying us with water when we left to take with us and even driving us down to the wedding which saved on a taxi fare. She made everyone feel very welcome.

Our stay here was fabulous and we would recommend to anybody.

Room Tip: Ask for the larger room if possible.

Sandhurst Farm Forge, while off the beaten path, is a great location for country walks, village visits, and close to tourist and business centers in Kent, Faversham and the Medway towns for example. The guest rooms are not in the house, but in an out building that has been recently refurbished so the rooms are modern, large, and comfortable. The owners are friendly, helpful, and know the area well, the wife having grown up in that vicinity. The husband is a blacksmith by trade and has his shop there and does beautiful work, including historic replications and preservation. It is interesting and educational to talk to him. If you enjoy the bucolic ambiance, this is the place to stay. However, there are few rooms, so book early if you can.

We stayed in a double room. The rooms are in an outhouse which is a nicely converted stable block of two rooms and a kitchen where breakfast is cooked. The rooms are comfortable and pleasant. The bathrooms were on the small side, but were perfectly adequate and there was plenty of hot water. We had dinner in a local pub, the George, recommended by the landlady - we had fresh trout and some sea-bass which was particularly excellent and great value.

The area is very quiet and peaceful, but don't expect any idyllic views from your window; as it looks back towards the house; not over fields/trees. One slight drawback is that the rooms are next to one another and our room was also connected by a door to the kitchen. This is convenient but you may be woken by the sound of someone else's breakfast in the morning.

In the morning, the breakfast was really excellent; cooked to order and incorporating fresh strawberries, cherries, melon; thick toast with decent jam and marmalade; good quality bacon, sausage & a nicely poached egg. Good choice of cereals as well, yogurts and croissants available too.

In summary; a comfortable room, and a very good breakfast, in a quiet but otherwise unremarkable setting, with a great pub down the road. We paid £70 for one night. For that money, it was very good value.
