What a fantastic place to visit and stay. We booked 2 nights at the forge to visit family and experience their farrier/forging and pottery and textiles workshops. Kate and the whole family were so welcoming and showed us around their gorgeous farm and land which was so quiet and peaceful. The rooms are spacious and fully equipped and very comfortable. Kate was a fantastic host, making us all amazing breakfasts each morning with homemade jams and delicious locally sourced food. She advised where to visit in the area during our stay and we spent a lovely morning in the historical town of Faversham. There are many walks around the local area if you want to just relax in the peace and quiet and see the beautiful countryside.

The workshops that the family offered were such great experiences with Charlie in his traditional forge showing us the traditional blacksmithing techniques, Will working in his part of the workshop turning some beautiful pieces of wood, Izzy in her pottery studio showing us how to be the next contestants on Pottery showdown with pinch pots and throwing and Kate offered a workshop in spinning fleece the way our ancestors would have worked. The day was so much fun as we got the chance as a group to experience the workshops and create a little something to take home. The whole family are so talented and some of their work can be seen in their on-site gallery. We could not resist buying some and were just blown away with all the beautiful and unique pieces they have created.

We cannot wait to visit again and spend longer with you all seeing more of the area and more workshopping! Thank you for a wonderful two days stay. The Mathesons 😊

Everything was perfect on this (our first) visit and Kate was so helpful and welcoming both in the emails pre-visit, when we arrived and throughout out stay. We felt very safe and secure. Kate couldn't have been more helpful in advising and booking a local pub for supper - and even dropped us off there on our first night. We were able to walk back on a really quiet road and then through a small wood to the back of their 3-acre property. Kate cooked us delicious (pre-ordered) breakfast of local produce each morning, serving it through a 'hatch' (for 'distancing' reasons!) .
The accommodation is spacious and comfortable ...and everything 'worked'; we instantly felt 'at home' in this very relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. The location is so quiet, set in the Kent weald in a maze of quiet (narrow) country lanes..no street lights or traffic noise - bliss!. Good area for walking - so many footpaths....if only we'd had the time! The garden around the house and annex is swathed with country flowers and shrubs...most attractive.
The whole family is very talented: a working forge/farrier, wood turner, potter/ceramics, tapestry, paintings.... and if you're lucky you may (on request) be able to view - and buy, as we did! - beautiful artifacts displayed in their Art Studio.

Room tip: Private entrance to our room in the single storey annex attractively converted from old stables. Off-road parking right outside the annex.

We booked for a long-weekend and were not disappointed; the room was very comfortable, spacious and well equipped in this beautifully quiet and picturesque small village location.
Breakfasts were really delicious and had the best choice of options that we'd come across (including 'free from').
Host Kate was lovely and went out of her way to be informative and helpful (even watered the plants that we'd purchased and left outside).
