“The best vacation ever ...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 December 2009

It was my 10th marriage anniversary ... I stay for 5 nights.
the selection came after several comparisons.. and long time too. i stay in water villa with jakuzi ... it was so private.
This resort was the best among the feedback of some guests was there during my stay, the hospitality of staff and the best services I've seen ever from Hilton hotels too was there.
To reach the resort you have to ride a sea plain, the resort was a local island with a local hotel until Hilton has the chance to take hold of that hotel and do full renovation for the naturally island and beaches …
The hotel offer a lot of activities and relaxation services that can really refresh your mind or even your life. There was a lot to do over there starting from the daily activities held by resort, like the daily fishing trips, romantic sea breakfast, locals life fishing trip, diving, snorkeling, and many many more… to sea and enjoy with the spa programs.
The in-resort activities are a lot too.. the water's edge café, iru restaurant, the reflections bar, and the trio restaurant over the sea … every one has different schedule… I recommend this for a short vacation .. it worth a lot.

I went as our last destination of our honeymoon and definitely saved the best til last!

Initially, I had booked the hotel online and had to contact Hilton many times to arrange our seaplane to the resort. Hilton replied with emails saying I would be contacted, but after sending 3 further emails and hearing nothing from Maldives Hilton, I managed to call them, for them to confirm they had our flight details and that they would meet us at the airport. (With our wedding and other destinations before our arrival to Maldives, it was frustrating they hadnt contacted me to arrange our seaplane transfer)

Upon arrival at the airport, we were met straight away by a Hilton representative who arranged everything for us. The seaplane is LOUD so remember to take ear-plugs or some tissues to put inside your ears! But the views are stunning so have your cameras ready. After the travel and landing, I felt a little travel sick but everyone was greeted with a cold towel which helped!! Then to see the view of the island and the clear sea took my breath away! The clean beach and water really does look like a picture perfect postcard! It really does look how it is in the pictures youve seen! Not airbrushed!

The staff are so friendly and smile and greet you whenever they see you. They ask if they can help and you feel relaxed walking around. The sun is HOT so take a hat to cover yourself at the high peak/lunch times. You can ask for a golf-buggy to transport you around, free of charge, and the staff will sometimes drive past and ask if you would like a lift.

We stayed in the horizon water villa and the room was amazing. I am not usually excited about hotel rooms but this one made me smile as I walked in! The view from the bed, the cleanliness and small amenities provided were all covered extremely well.

We had B&B, so ate breakfast in the main restaurant, and as mentioned previously by others, there was a good range of food on offer. They altered the juices and spreads etc so there are a slight difference each morning. You can walk around bare feet and there's no air conditioning so we were rather hot during breakfast time! There are ceiling fans. I was bitten by mosquitoes so I recommend you take spray and cream to apply onto any bites. However, I went to the doctor clinic who provided me a bottle of ointment, free, to apply onto the bites to stop the itchiness.

For dinner, we ate at the Trio. The other restaurants werent opened at the time we went, so we had a lack of choice. But, the Trio was good. The prices were reasonable and the seafood fresh and cooked well. I loved the lobster and fish. The view was also great. During dinner, we often saw fish right below us swimming and 'jumping' as well as stingrays. Again, the staff and service were attentive.

The activities around the hotel are not too crowded. We happily used the internet room, (free internet in room via cable, not wireless. Wireless in main reception area) gym, played pool & snooker and board games without feeling we had to rush or that others were waiting for us. The hotel was fully booked at the time, but you would not 'feel/see' it. The island is beautiful. We walked right round and saw other guests who were friendly and greeted each other as we pass by.

I researched many hotels in the Maldives and asked friends whom had been and didnt want to risk our honeymoon being a let down but it was well worth it. Our outbound flight was a late night flight and Hilton had arranged for us to take a late afternoon seaplane to Male. Thinking that we had many hours to wait at the airport, we were told that an arrangement had be organised to take us and another couple around Male. The tourism representative was friendly and took us around, explaining and showing us the local sights. Then he escorted us back to the airport to check in and it did not cost us for this private tour, except the US$1 each, one way boat to Male then US$1 back to the airport! (We did tip him but it was voluntarily and not out of persuasion).

We booked this holiday on the Friday - very last minute - and travelled on the Saturday for 7 nights and were so impressed stayed on for another 2 nights. One of the reasons for the late booking was trying to look at all the various resorts in the Maldives, read comments, and then decide which one to go with - and based on so many resorts this is not an easy task ! Looked through Trip Advisor web site.
We settled on the Hilton Iru Fushi - and I have to say from the moment we arrived on a direct flight from London to Male to the day we left Male on the direct flight to London - the hotel looked after everything. We were met on arrival by a Hilton Rep taken to the Maldavian Air Taxi check - in, who sorted out all baggage, and then to a nice air conditioned lounge to await the departure of the sea plane.
If you haven't been on a seaplane - its great - and what a view of the islands on the 45 minute journey to the north atoll.
On arrival at the jetty of the resort you are met by a personal rep who will be your contact throughout the stay - and can be contacted directly on a mobile FOC - 24/7.
The hotel is on a 55 acre island, and its all powder white sands, and palm tree's - surrounded by beach villas and two platform of water villas. Having seen of the villa's - I personally think the beach villas are the best.
The hotel is 2 years old - and Hilton recently took it over. The beach villa (which I think are all the same), are great - and everything is catered for in them - you literally need to take just you clothing (light), swimmers, and some casual wear and SUN TAN LOTION (as they have very little there - and it's expensive and either Factor 24/30 - so I said that the only regret of the holiday was not taking sun tan lotion or enough or I should say, that means the hotel delivers in all other aspects). The rooms are all non-smoking inside, they have great kingsize beds, large Palasma TV and Bose surround sound, (but no I Pod players - so take speakers), free Internet connection if you have your laptop from the room (slow, but works fine for emails and basic surfing as its a satelitte connection), they also have wifi in the bar area, and also an internet library if you don;t wish to take your laptop), DVD players in the room (UK films work fine on them), wine cooler, fridges, huge sofa, plenty of space for hanging clothes, safe, minibar, and even umbrella's (if it rains), light water proof jackets, and a torch for night time walking on the beach. The bathroom is outside, and wow, a IPOD Jacuzzi, and Indoor Rain Shower, and outside Rain Shower, sun loungers, and a huge canopied area to sit outside which is totally private. All ammenities you would expect from a Hilton, toothbrushes, tooothpaste, tons of towels and beach towels, shampoo, you name it. From the front of the villa - you have another outside terrace, with chair and tables, sofa, and then a small private path to the beach with another private verandaha to sit overlooking the sea and beach, then each villa has its own two sunloungers already positioned on the beach. Most of the time the beahces were really quiet, and if you have a villa on stilts you just drop down directly from your sunloungers into the sea. The beaches are spotless, and the ocean stunning and warm (+ very salty). The hotel has two pools, one which allows kids, and one without, and both a stunning, and have bars that serve great food adjacent. The restaurants were all excellent, favourite was Islanders Grill on the beach, followed by Trio. The other two restaurants were not open - Flavours - due open soon, and the Wine Club. Bars are great, and amazing for sitting and watching the sunset. The main restaurant is Iru (which is where breakfast is served), and the breakfast is pretty great. They DO EVERYTHING, and not only do it, but they do it exceptionally well. My girlfriend has an alergy to gluten - and every morning they had sorted (after initial request), specially baked bread, pasteries etc, and at night they would make sure that their restaurants had the bread, wheat free pasta etc. The breakfast is a total meal - thats sets you up for the day ! We went B&B only, and pleased we did, as the restaurants on the island (all owned by Hilton) were so good, we ate in those every night. Great choice of wines and at a reasonable price - bearing in mind where you are in the world ! The service by the entire staff was 100%, they really look after you, and are so respectful and polite. At night we used to walk along the beach, saw hardly anyone, and even as you walk along the internal roads, or call of free Golf Buffy to collect you, it all feels very quiet and its paradise. If you are looking for a rowdy holiday, don;t come to this resort, we hardly heard any music being played loudly, its just a great chill out resort. Can;t comment on the excursions as we just went for the beach and relax, but all I can say it that I am pleased that I did my research, as this resort scored 10/10 for us - and other couples we spoke to on the return journey. Direct flight was worth it, though not that sure I would have chosed Sri Lankan Airways, but to get from London-Male in 9/10 hours - and then 45 minutes by plane to the island was pretty quick. Otherwise it's via Dubai. BA do a direct flight as well from Gatwick, Sri Lankan from Heathrow. Out of the nine nights we were there in November, we had one morning of rain, that apart weather was either blue skies, or slightly cloudy (which can be a welcome relief). Congrats to Hilton on this fine hotel - and to its dedicated staff.

PS - G/f loved the spa and massages.

Also take essentials, the shops on the island are basic in their stock (very basic) including the minimal choice of sun lotion to name but one !!

C & S, London.

as soon as your sea taxi lands you are in a relaxed and breath takingly beautiful atoll in the middle of nowhere. The hotel amenities are beautifully laid out on the minuscule island(it takes a 20 mns stroll to walk round) .We stayed in a jacuzzi water villa ,which was modern ,clean and very stylish with stunning views. In our opnion a better choice than the beach villas.
there were 2 themed restaurant and a buffet restaurant (where you have a nice, plentiful breakfast every morning)We were B & B only and that was a good move as the food in the a la carte restaurants were of a much higher quality. The fish and sea food were wonderful and reasonably priced,(unlike the wine which was very expensive by the bottle but acceptable by the glass.Considering we were on a small island in the middle of nowhere the variety and quality of the wines were excellent. ).It will be even better now that the new Asian theme restaurant is open.
We found the staff efficient, polite and helpful.
It is one of the cleanest resort we have stayed in,
The spa was amazing and it is a must.
The gym was excellent but on the small side(only one running machine ).
Most important of all the fine white sand beaches and the clear turquoise sea have to be seen to be believed! the best we have ever seen.
For couples ,a visit to the infinity pool and bar are also a must.
During our stay we had rain at some point during the day or night but the sun would reappear and in no way this spoilt the holiday.
One warning:do not walk bare feet on the wooden walk ways in the middle of the afternoon as you will burn(really burn)the sole of your feet....we soon learnt flip-flops are another must)
overall we had a wonderful ,relaxed holiday which we can strongly recommend it.

Having just spent 7 nights on iru fushi I can totally recommend it as a luxury destination with a personal touch. My husband had booked a beach villa as a surprise 50th birthday pressie, best present ever! We flew via Dubai and have since heard that you can fly direct to Male which i would do if we ever get the chance to go again as quite a long haul taking 3 flights but the seaplane is so exciting that you soon forget any tiredness. wHEN We arrived we had a wonderful welcome by the staff who were so smiley and helpful we felt like royalty. In fact i think that the staff wherever you met them could not have been better and went out of their way to make our holiday special even climbing a palm tree to get a coconut &crack it open so that we could taste the wonderfully cool milk inside. If you choose this resort you are very very lucky. Cocktails around the infinity pool watching the sunset a definite highlight when we could drag ourselves away from our villa on the beach. Dont bother to take many clothes or any shoes just flipflops as everything very relaxed and wandering barefoot on the sandy paths or beach added to the island experience. Dont expect lively evenings as we found most bars closed at 10ish and the island seems so quiet that you feel you have it to yourself a lot of the time even though it was full during the time we were there, a very special place.
