Found the pub by chance by following the signs off the A303 - They instantly accommodated 10 of us for lunch with no problem, the service and food was extremely quick and efficient. The food itself was delicious, beautiful tasty home made dishes and good sized portions and value for money. It was definitely worth stopping again on our way back across country and it's on the list of places to stop next time we're passing that way (If you'll have us noisy bunch). Will certainly recommend to other family and friends too. Thank you.

We stopped at the Black Dog on the way to the West Country on Friday and were so impressed with the quality of the food and service we stopped there again on the way back east today!! A little gem of a pub/restaurant that we were extremely glad to 'discover' and would highly recommend!! Many thanks (and hope our group of 10 didn't cause too much disturbance to the 'locals'!)

The food may be amazing, unfortunately I'll never get to find out because the person answering the phone was so rude I decided book elsewhere

We were taken to the Black Dog by friends and were very impressed with the food. We had a warm welcome by the owners and there appeared to be lots of locals eating and drinking there. There was a blackboard, but no menus, with a variety of of tempting dishes. We ordered one starter between two, but it was still an enormous portion, followed by a huge main course. The consensus of opinion was that the quality was good, but much too big a quantity! They should reduce their size portions, then more people could enjoy a 3 course meal if they wanted. It would be great for a pub lunch after a long walk.

Had a very cold welcome from the rather unfriendly staff, then had to wait an hour for food to arrive which was on absolutly stone cold plates and dishes! Food OK but spoilt by the dredful service. Not a welcoming or friendly atmosphere at all, unfortunately I have to share the sentiments of several other reviewers. Had high expectations as we had been here several times in the past, but won't be returning!
