“Heaven on earth!”
Reviewed 1 March 2014

This place is a slice of heaven. Away from the main glitz and busy town of Branson right on the Arkansas-Missouri border. Quiet, breathtaking views, as close to nature as it gets without giving up the necessities. Clubhouse is awesome with kiddies pool and outdoor hot tub. Loved the small cove with the peddle boats, the walkways winding through the property and the views from the lodge. Great/friendly staff. Access is interesting and the hill is very steep so be careful during inclement weather. Will definitely be back for more great family memories.

Stayed in a two bedroom suite, was very spacious and had everything you would need. Lots to do and beautiful grounds. Did some geocaching with the family and friends while we were there, there were many right on the grounds. Checked out movies from the club house and loved the hot tea and coffee available too! Husband got in some trout fishing close by. Will be back!

My wife received this as a retirement gift from a gratefull parent of one of her students. Spent two night in a two bedroom cabin that was top of the line. Accomodations and amenities were just fantastic.

Room Tip: Cabin 2020 was so close to everything around the resort.

This is our most favorite place to stay. From the indoor pool for the kids, lounge with tea and coffee to the Buzzards bar where we all love to eat and watch the sunset. We had a third floor room with an amazing few.

My wife and I stayed here over a weekend and it was very relaxing. One thing I was very impressed with was the tram service offered. If you wanted to travel to any place in the resort a tram would pick you up. This kept us from getting lost and really cut down on traffic. Also in the first two hours of being in our room our neighbors were being quite loud. I understand that this is a family resort but they were being obnoxiously loud. I called the front desk and they promptly responded by having the manager Sal contact our neighbors. He then called back awhile later to make sure they had quieted down. I rather appreciated that. It snowed during our stay with a temp of -2 degrees at one point. They had employees in salt trucks and bobcats clearing the parking lots and roads for the duration of the snowfall. They put forth the effort to keep people safe. The restaurants were delicious. I feel that normally when you dine in a resort the chefs just heat something up in a microwave. Our food actually had flavor and service was always great. We had a Sunday brunch at the Devil's Pool and dinner in the Buzzard Bar below. On one evening we went to the Billiards Bar which is 21 and up and had a relaxing evening. All in all it is a great couples getaway and a fun place to be.

Room Tip: If you just want a room your name will be entered into a computer and the computer selects the room...

This is our 3rd visit to Big Cedar Wilderness and our 2nd time to have problems with noise. I called the front desk (8:00 am) after our first night and ask if we could be moved to the upper floor. I told them that it sounded like the people above us were wearing concrete shoes and moving furniture. She ask me if I had called last night to complain because they could go talk to our upstairs guest. I said No, I hadn't because it really wasn't during quiet hours. Two hours later the noise had not stopped. I called back to the desk and ask again if we could be moved. She said that they were full (which there is no way that was true because days before there had been an ice and snow storm and the place was basically empty). She offered to send up a fan to give us some "white noise". I knew this would not help. We were gone all day to SDC and when we came back that evening....back to the noise. I went upstairs just to see what was going on....and from outside of that room, I couldn't hear a thing. The guest were not being unruly so I did not want to complain against them because it is just the sound proofing of the rooms! On our last stay, it was the room beside us. You could hear their conversations like we were in the same room. I really hate to complain about this, but it is a problem. I have now seen other guest of complain of the same problem. It's a beautiful place but it's not very relaxing if you have guest above you or beside you.

Big Cedar Wilderness Club any time of year is great, but Christmas is extra special. We spent X-mas at the resort and there were wonderful activities available to participate in that were free. Big Cedar had a Christmas Eve nondenominational ceremony in the convention center complete with hot cocoa and beautifully decorated sugar cookies. Santa pulled in on his horse drawn carriage on Christmas Eve. It is always fun to bring a bag of carrots or apples to feed the horses. We find the best deals for Big Cedar Wilderness Club on Craigslist St. Louis. We like the two bedroom lodge units the best as they offer the most space 1,350 square feet and two kitchens vs. the cabins 1000 square feet. Breakfast buffet at Devil's Pool was delicious for !3./person. A free shuttle on property makes getting around the resort a breeze. The cookie lady visits every evening dropping off cookies and you receive a free newspaper M-F at your door.

Room Tip: While an upper floor room is nice, any room at Big Cedar beats no room at all in my book.
