“Completely delightful in every way”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 September 2009

After hammering our bikes the fifty miles up the Katy Trail from Sedalia to Rocheport, the Yates House Bed and Breakfast was a wonderful and refreshing sight. Beautiful, unbelievably lush gardens, elegant and comfortable rooms and hospitality that wouldn't quit. The next morning owner and (apparently) raconteur Dan delivered a delightful history of Rocheport and threw in an anecdote or two about the locally originated Walton (WalMart) family. It was an absolutely perfect experience.

My wife and I stayed at the Yates house in Rocheport for our 25th wedding anniversary. We could not have picked a better bed and breakfast and it was so good, we even extended our stay by an extra day.
The Yates house features some spacious rooms which are very clean and well kept. They include amenities like a stocked refrigerator with complimentary waters and sodas and they even stock some dessert wine for an evening night cap. The garden area is gorgeous and well tended and we sat back there to watch and listen to the birds. Rocheport itself is listed as a National Historic town (the entire town) and you are easily in walking distance of anything that the town has to offer. We specifically picked Rocheport because of its proximity to the Katy Trail State Park as we are avid bicyclists. This is what brings many people to this area. Conrad and Dixie Yates are excellent hosts who go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable, comfortable, and above all, memorable. I would highly recommend this B&B and am somewhat reluctant to post this review as I would rather keep this to myself. One other thing....Dixie is an awesome cook. What sold us over on this B&B over the others in the area is that Dixie offered to cook our 25th anniversary dinner so we didn't have to go looking for a good meal, and I don't think I could have found a better meal in a 50 mile radius......it was that good. All in all, it was an awesome stay, and we plan to return in the fall.

This was my second stay at the Inn, in Rocheport, Missouri. Great access to the KATY Trail for biking, or just a peacefull get away. Very small, quaint town outside of Columbia, Missouri. Winery near by, and Missouri River. The Inn itself is very nice, and well taken care of an appointed. Feels like home. Bring an appetite for breakfast, which is usually something unique that Dixie has prepared. Also good resteraunts nearby (Abigails, Bourgeois Winery). Could alos be a good place to fill out the weekend of a Missouri Tigers football game. The hosts, Conrad and Dixie are very personable and will make your stay comfortable.

There are not enough accolades for the Yates House B&B. I plan to make this an annual trip because of the great cooking, gracious hospitality, friendly atmosphere, superb suggestions for things to do in the area, comfortable room, thoughtful extras like coffee/cookies/soaps. The worst part about staying is having to leave. Thank you, Dixie and Conrad, for one of the nicest vacations I've had in a long time!

  • Liked — The food, the proximity to things to do, the comfortable bed

You can't go wrong staying at the Yates House Bed & Breakfast. Their lovely home is warm and inviting, and I immediately felt welcome as soon as I stepped in the door. I was greeted with home baked cookies and friendly conversation with Conrad and Dixie Yates. I had one of the best night's sleep of my life as I sank into a bed that was made with the highest quality bed linens. In the morning, Dixie prepared a sumptuous breakfast of creme brule french toast and an egg fritata made with fresh herbs and vegetables. It was a wonderfully relaxing retreat. I can't wait for spring when Conrad and Dixie will be serving their guests on their newly built patio. Located near their garden, it will be a beatiful way to start the day. Central Missouri is lucky to have such a lovely bed and breakfast. Looking forward to my next stay.....

Conrad and Dixie Yates have created a wonderfully relaxing B&B experience in Rocheport, Missouri. We loved the elegant surroundings and our room was so luxurious with its king sized bed, jacuzzi tub and fireplace. And the bedding is sumptuous. After a peaceful night's sleep in the beautiful guest room, you get to enjoy an amazing breakfast lovingly prepared by Dixie. She is a truly gifted cook, and she has her own cookbook--we defintely recommend picking one up as we use ours all the time. Conrad and Dixie are warm and welcoming hosts and they make you feel right at home. The Yates House B&B is definitely THE place to stay in Rocheport, Missouri.

And oh yes, the cookies at check-in time are to die for!

The Yates House is our favorite place to stay when we are in MO. Dixie and Conrad are wonderful, friendly hosts. And Dixie is an AMAZING cook. We even bought their cookbook and use it all the time. We were actually there for a cooking class, and had a fantastic experience. The Yates House is gorgeous, we especially like the elegant Garden House suite with its whirpool bath, fireplace and king-size bed--the luxurious bedding is top notch. Rocheport is a wonderful little historic town right on the Katy trail, full of wonderful shops and restaurants, and when you go there, the Yates House is THE place to stay.
