“Way over-rated”
Review of Lovers Lane

Lovers Lane
Reviewed 5 September 2013 via mobile

The residents in this area like to try to make a bigger deal about the name of their street than is necessary to boost their self esteem & property values but its way overrated. I'm sure it was neat back in the day but that was long ago. It's just another street these days that a poem talked about long ago.

This is a lovely, winding, street in the northern part of town. While it is no longer the country lane described in the poem by Eugene Fields, it is a lovely drive through a nice neighborhood.

Fortunately, we chose a time of day (mid-morning on Wednesday) when traffic was light and we could slow down and look at some very nice houses "as we snailed along,"

Lover's Lane is a beautiful place to drive in any season! Winter boasts lots of beautiful Christmas lights, and Spring/Summer you'll see houses with the outstanding gardening of the locals.

If you want to take a drive and look at some nice old houses (among average houses, that's the way we roll here in St. Joe) it's a very lovely drive. Don't try to walk it though. The best part has no sidewalks.

It took forever to find this because it's an overpass off the main road with no good signage. Basically it's a back country road in the middle of an old but very pretty housing development. You'd probably appreciate it more if you walked along it rather than drove.
