“St Louis zoo”

what else do you need to say except it is a world class zoo - and it is free! Parking in the zoo lot is expensive, but there are plenty of free places on the streets in Forest Park. But please - consider a voluntary contribution so it can stay free!

“No penguins :^(”
Reviewed 4 December 2013

The St. Louis Zoo has a wide variety of animals to see....many in very natural settings. My favorite, the penguin house, is closed, seemingly indefinitely, while a polar bear display is constructed. It's a nice walk (or train ride) but signage is sometimes lacking. One indoor display had no signage at all and we stumbled upon the door to the giraffes, etc. quite by accident. The great apes are delightful and easily viewed. Food/drink was available at the central dining facility but others throughout the park were closed.

“My favorite thing to do in St. Louis”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

The entrace fee to the zoo in St. Louis is FREE ! While you do have to pay for the train and the childrens zoo, it is well worth the price. They are in the process of improving a lot of the animal enclosures, which are small and just not natural habitats. The bear exhibits are in dire need of improvement. As for the majority of the zoo though it is wonderful. Plan to spend the whole day. Parking on nice days is a quite a challenge, so plan on arriving early to get a spot in the one of the two parking lots. We go at least twice a year and love it.

“Amusing day at the Zoo”
Reviewed 29 November 2013 via mobile

Like I've said in other zoo reviews of mine. Akron Zoo is the zoo to visit in Ohio. But I still love zoos so I liked the St. Louis Zoo for many reasons. One thing I did not like though was the poor exhibits. Most of them didn't resemble a wild animals habitat, a lot of them needed more foliage. Not to mention the barely visible leopard cage. But now I think it's time to focus on the good aspects of the place. Well it has animals. That's a fact. I really liked the butterfly house too. I also thought that the Safari Pass was worth it if you have lots of time. I said that because we didn't get there till like one so we were limited on that time part. But I think this is great Zoo to go to.
