“Old Building Still has IT!!!”

The Old Courthouse in St Louis, MO is both a historic gem and a great photo op with the great Arch in the background. The NP ranger on duty was very helpful, the interpretive panels and exhibits were museum quality. A "top shelf" historical attraction. See the courtroom where the Dred-Scott trial took place in the mid1800's. The Rotunda is especially impressive. Nice gift shop on site as well. Definitely worth the 30-45 minutes to view the exhibits. No elevator ....only STEPS!

“Interesting and enjoyable”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

I was pleasantly surprised. It was walking distance from my hotel so I decided to check it out. The architecture was beautiful. The paintings were worth the visit alone. There was a great exhibit about Dredd Scott. I would add it to the list of things to see.

“Unexpected highlight”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

I honestly wasn't going to bother with this place but we needed to kill time. We were there on a Sunday morning not very busy. We wondered around for about an hour. I fell in love with the place. Starting with the fact it's free! The old architecture and paintings on the walls were fabulous! I was also surprised by the amount of history that had happened there. Be sure to make time for this place!

“Lovely building, nice exhibits”
Reviewed 18 October 2013

The old courthouse is in excellent condition with historic exhibits of St. Louis and some wonderful murals on the walls. Staff was very nice and they will let you lay on the floor to view the interior of the dome. Worth the lie-down. :)

“Could be better”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

The architecture and history of this courthouse was great. There was a great exhibit about Dredd Scott which was very informative. There was also a fantastic art exhibit depicting the history of Missouri - beautiful work. However, there was just as much that was not well organized or labeled. We ended up leaving because we were walking through all of these rooms with all of these old historical artifacts which were NOT labeled. We had many questions and there was nobody around to ask and nothing to read about it.

Such a beautiful building with such great history that took place here, yet so disappointing because I wanted to learn more about it.
