Beautiful architecture of the period and a great place to brush up on civil rights history, especially the Dred Scott trial.

“The Dred Scot case helped change America, It happened here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2014

The history that happened here is so important to our country. The courthouse and it's tour guides from the National Park service bring history to light and helps you to understand the importance of the actions that took place in this building and the importance to the US.

It's a do not miss on any trip to St. Louis. The gift shop is small but great gifts for family and friends.

“Free to visit! Can feel the history here”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 June 2014

As only a minutes walk away from the arch, we visited this right after leaving the arch. Courthouse is part of the national park so was free entry. Has beautiful areas inside and free tours. Some St. Louis history exhibits were present and rooms were setup in old courtroom style. Worth the brief time there.

“History”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

The Old Courthouse was a pleasant surprise for our trip to St Louis. It is free to enter, and is open daily. Take a little time to climb to the top and enjoy the paintings and architecture. Lots of history from a very painful time in our country when slavery was still in place. This is definitely worth a little time, especially for those who enjoy history.

“Lots of history”

Well worth 2 or 3 hours of your day and the price is right- free! I didn't expect the amount of history there was inside to learn.
Beautiful building!
