“What every boutique hotel wants to be”
Reviewed 11 February 2014

Stayed here on a recent business trip. The staff was incredibly friendly, from the valet to the front desk to the room service staff who would always say hello in the hallways. As you can tell from the name of the hotel, there's a "moon" theme pretty much everywhere, from the Jules Verne-esque art prints in the rooms, to the photos of Neil Armstrong with the hotel owner in the lobby. You can tell there's real passion and investment in the hotel, and it made everything about my stay awesome. The hotel might not be for everyone--it's got a bar open til 3am and the overall theme is quite strong and slanted towards a modern/hipster crowd, but if you're willing to go with the flow a bit, it's a seriously quality place.

The room itself was giant, clean, and up-to-date, with lots of desktop power plugs. There's lots of restaurants and a theater nearby, so I imagine it would get pretty loud in the area on weekends (I was there Tuesday and Wednesday nights), but it also means there's lots to do in walking distance of the hotel, and everything seemed to be open late (dinner after 10pm), even early in the week.

We are so fortunate to have employees that are passionate about what they do and they really enjoy working here, the atmosphere in the hotel says fun and that’s exactly what we like to convey to our guests while still providing AAA 4-Diamond service and amenities. The Delmar Loop is a lively area that many people frequent for its wonderful restaurants, boutique shops, and bars. The Eclipse Restaurant and the New Moon Room are both open until 3:00am which is great for someone that is here to enjoy the night life, but we do have a lot to offer business cliental such as complementary parking, WiFi, and a business and fitness center. The location of the hotel is great for any family coming to visit St. Louis because we are centrally located and guest can easily reach St. Louis attractions.

I am glad you had a pleasant stay, we would love to have you back so you can experience more of what the Moonrise Hotel and the Loop has to offer!

Cheers,

We drove up to St.Louis for a single night to see the Alton Brown concert at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. I drive a Tesla Model S electric car so needed a hotel where I could recharge overnight for the trip home. Currently the Moonrise and only one other hotel (The Hyatt at the Arch) have any real option for recharging. The price was much better and we were excited to try out this boutique hotel that caters to EV owners.

Our only disappointment was not the fault of the hotel. There was a rock concert nearby and many people who attended the show were staying at the hotel, some particularly loud and intoxicated ones were on our floor and choose to return to their rooms between 2:30 and 3am. We'd gotten to bed a bit late ourselves and had to be up at 6am, this really ruined our night's sleep. I did call the front desk and they were responsive, but our sleep was screwed up already, so the damage was done.

The EV charger is right out front in the valet area, but I was able to just back into the spot on arrival. The ChargePoint EV charger is open to the general public, but hotel guests get priority if someone who's not staying at the Moonrise wants to use it.

The decor is ultra modern in spots and throwback spaceage (Think Flash Gordon-esque) style. A lot of fun really.

We added on the "Romance" package...if you're going as a couple this is only a few bucks extra and worth it, if for the breakfast only($35 value). But it includes 2 mini bottles of champagne, 2 minis of Absolute citrus, a tiny bottle of chambord, and a romance kit that includes a cool little toy for the lady, a similar male option, a couple contraceptives and lubricant!! It certainly enhanced the fun for the night!

Room Tip: Avoid street side, or bring ear plugs, street noise can be significant.

It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your stay and that the romance package, officially known as the Love Shack Package, made your stay all that much better! I am glad you found the charging station a great hotel amenity we also offer it to our neighbors free of charge when our overnight guests are not using it; we use every opportunity we can to keep us a truly green hotel. We hope to see you again in the near future.

I never pick a normal hotel when I can find one with character and charm and that’s just what we got with the moonrise! The theming itself was very cool. It could have easily looked outdated but instead they gave it the decade charm combining it with modern amenities and a comfy place to crash! It’s in a perfect location right next door to the Pageant and who knew St.Louis had so much to offer on the "Loop"! Very cool location, hotel and even a accommodating, kind and helpful staff.

We will see you next time Moonrise :)

It is great to hear that you enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel and the staff. There is not a better place to stay if you are attending a show at the Pageant. The Loop has a lot to explore even if you got to spend a day walking around there are many places that would make it worth another trip!

I loved the moon theme and the decor of this hotel. The front desk staff was friendly and attentive, introduced themselves and everyone else at the desk, offered us a complementary drink and was informative, all the while checking us in quickly. Our room was very clean and nicely appointed. Loved the H2O products and shower. The bed was comfy. Appreciated the 24 hour room service, attention to being "green" and free WiFi. Parking is an issue in this area, the valet service is worth the extra cost! We do plan to use this hotel again. There is a noise issue at the hotel and it is not just other guests. Security was discussing way too loudly which group they thought was going to give them "trouble" while we were checking in. As we were going out for the evening, another staff member ran through the lobby shouting back to the desk that he's got it. And later when we were having a late night dinner another staffer ran through the restaurant. I found this unsettling. I tried to be positive and consider that the staff was being exuberant in meeting guests needs. You will hear other guests in the hallway from your room as others have commented on. The good news is I never heard what was going on in others rooms once their door was closed. And the doors do close very loudly. We found the Eclipse restaurant to be very good and the new moon roof top Sunday brunch was very nice. I would def recommend this hotel for those looking for a fun time in a diverse neighborhood. If you are in search of a serene experience, this is probably not where you should stay.

Thank you for all of your kind comments about our hotel. The Loop is a very popular area and sometimes on the weekends parking can be difficult to find, but there are many overflow lots just off of the Loop. Our Security team should not be discussing guest room issues at the desk while other guest are present, our guest privacy and safety are our priorities. The staff member running through the lobby was probably running outside to assist a guest in retrieving a vehicle; we have a no waiting policy for incoming guests. By bringing this to our attention we will be more mindful of the guest's perception as we sprint about.

This would have been a 5 star review if the place wasn't so loud. Even with the signage asking people to be considerate it doesn't work. People are idiots. So spend a little more $$$ on that instead of the Froo froo stuff. Other than that a wonderful place, until a door slams! Keep up the good work, you almost have the perfect hotel!!!!

We appreciate the feedback you’ve provided! We are always looking for ways to improve our hotel. We started closing the doors next to the elevator landing to keep the sounds from the guests exiting the elevators out of the hallways and put the signs on the doors in hopes that people would quiet down while walking to their room. We will have to see what solutions we can create for this problem. Hopefully on your next visit to St. Louis you will stay at the Moonrise again!

Free parking, gorgeous facility, excellent and friendly staff. We even brought our dog and they had fresh handmade treats Dodd and water bowls and a cute little scarf for her. Many things to look at and cool mirrors everywhere. A lot of entertainment nearby. Great covered rooftop bar. Free parking Free WiFi. Just can't say enough good to emphasize your need to stay here. Minutes from shopping and athletic events. We will be back! Heads up there is a $40.00 fee for your pet but isn't it worth it for our furry lived ones!?

It sounds like your stay was enjoyable! We are always happy to accommodate guest with pets. The $40.00 fee is a one-time fee per stay to cover cleaning costs as well as other amenities we offer our four legged guests. Knowing how important WiFi is to most guests we feel that it is something that they should be complementary! We look forward to having you as a guest again!
