“Old-time Elegance”

This property is a private club which has recently been opened up to the public. It is a beautiful hotel right in the heart of downtown St. Louis. It is within walking distance of Busch Stadium, although the hotel provides a free shuttle beginning one hour before a game. The Arch is very close as well. You don't see hotels like this one any more. There are deep, rich woods in the common areas. The rooms have been updated with flat screen tvs and fresh bathroom fixtures. The staff is amazing and so accommodating. This hotel has a card room, billiard room, and a gymnasium. We asked the front desk for a deck of playing cards--no problem. We got a brand new deck and used the card room until 1am. We had it all to ourselves! We would definitely recommend this hotel, and we hope to stay here again.

When first walking into the hotel I was very pleased, it was very nice and I loved the old time feel. Then we got to the room. The room was clean but was extremely cold and there wasn't a way to control the temperature. The bathroom looked like a stall from a locker room. Shower was extremely small and I am 5'1" and felt cramped. We went to a Cardinal's game and was a great walk to and from. You can hear all of the traffic from the streets and you can hear everything in the hallway and rooms next to you. I wasn't able to fall asleep until after 3 am when the traffic stopped after all the bars closed downtown.

Just what we were looking for since we didn't have a car ,easy access to several bars/restaurants with one bar just across the street, Irish pub with some live music and good atmosphere, Busch stadium, Lacledes Landing , St Louis Arch +several other interesting things to see and do with minimal cost within walking distance, some good blues music down south on Broadway street with a short cab drive. The hotel itself was very clean with a very old school feel to it ,very nice lobby with a very friendly staff, lots of beautiful wood work we enjoyed our stay and we got what we read on other guests reviews we had a wonderful time in this historic city......

This hotel only has two floors for guests. The other floors are strictly for club members. There is a humidor for cigars that can be purchased in the lobby. Could smell cigar smoke on first floor. There is a dress code for restaurant. This old building has lots of character and architecture. Unfortunately, the rooms lack modern conveniences. Large, clean room. The bathroom was old and small. Shower was a stall with curtain, dated tiles on the floor, pedestal sink. There were no outlets in the bathroom or ventilation fan. The toilet was old and tankless, similar to toilets in a dated school. The bedroom was spacious and had a power strip for electronics, hair dryer, etc. there was no unit to control air conditioning as it is controlled by the main hotel. There are vents in the room to open or close to keep room somewhat warmer or cooler, although the lobby and main areas were much cooler and more comfortable. Poorly insulated room. Could hear person in the next room blowing nose EWE!! Also could hear All of the noise in the hallway. Parking is $12 per day in parking ramp that is next to hotel and you can go in and out during the day with no extra fee - just need to get ticket validated at the front desk. Excellent downtown location within walking distance to Busch Stadium, St. Louis Loop, La Cledes Landing, and many bars and restaurants.

Room Tip: Perhaps getting a room at the end of the hallway would be less noisy?

I stayed at the Missouri Athletic Club in the summer of 2013, but had a very positive experience. First, they had an awesome happy hour that we were invited to with very reasonably priced cocktails. The parking had in and out priviliges, I was easily able to walk to the arch, casino, and a longer stroll the ball park. The gym is actually pretty impressive considering the whole place is indoors. The only knock would be that the bathroom was small, and there was not much closet space. Still, you have to make some compromises if you want to be in a historic building. I don't recall about the Wifi.

We were assigned this room by Priceline while in town to watch a Cardinals game. The public spaces are beautiful. While our room was a bit dated, it was very clean and comfortable. The main downfalls of the room were bathroom and access to plugs. There is no place to hang wet towels in the bathroom and the tile floor is charming but some tiles were chipped and in need of replacement. The room needs to be updated for use of technology. With only a power strip near the TV, it was difficult to charge all our tech items. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable, pillows firm, and carpet was clean! This was the second room we stayed in on this trip to StL. The first two nights were a few blocks away at the Ramada. That stay was ruined by our car being broken into. At the MAC, the garage is monitored 24 hours a day and our car was in tact at the end of our stay. The most important asset of this hotel was its staff. 100% treated us like welcome guests and quite often asked if they could do anything for us. I would stay again without hesitation!
