I liked this hotel. It was located near the highways, so on & off was a breeze. You could see the Arch from the hotel, and walk if you wanted. Public buses & cabs were available but we drove. Clean, comfy rooms, full breakfast. Pool, popcorn & soda for the kids! Under cover parking here, grab a spot if you can. The hotel was beyond packed, we were lucky to get the last room available as there was a reunion going on. There was one incident when the fire alarm went off and the hotel was evacuated. It was hot in the lobby, wow!

Room Tip: I will hunt for another hotel next time, closer to the downtown area!

PROS: centrally located, east on/off highways, not too busy in immediate area, happy hour every night with free drinks and snacks (not just weeknights), large eating area, extensive breakfast with different hot choices during our stay, popcorn and sodas in lobby at night, indoor pool was clean and warm, good sportsbar restaraunt attached to property, nice sized rooms wth fridge and microwaves

CONS: somewhat removed from downtown - a bit of a walk, not much else immediately around the hotel, parking in gated garage out back looked a bit sketchy due to urban location-but never saw any problems-just looked a bit scary, slow elevators

My husband and I stayed in this hotel the night before going to a football game at Edward Jones Dome. We called to inquire about early check-in, and were told that it would be no problem. Sure enough, when we arrived shortly before noon, a room was ready for us. The front desk attendant (I think her name was Nicole) was exceptionally friendly. Probably the most friendly front desk attendant we have EVER encountered. From there, we took our stuff up to the room, which was clean and nicely decorated. We didn't have much of a view, but that mattered little to us, as we weren't planning on being in the room except to sleep. We were planning to participate in the hotel's "happy hour," but unfortunately we did not make it back in time. It is nice that it is offered, though, and if we stay here in the future, we may take advantage of that. The pool area looked nice, but we didn't have time to use that either. When we did get back to our room after a long day out, we needed to get to bed early, as we were getting up early to tailgate before the football game. The hotel was FULL of rowdy Bears fans, and yet in our room it was quiet enough for us to sleep. Also, I might add, the shower was amazing.

In short, while it's not a fancy luxury hotel, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better deal. Free parking, free breakfast, and a lower price than the other Drury properties in the area. I definitely wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

I usually stay at Drury Inn at Union Station when in St. Louis for business. This week, the Drury was booked, so I needed to shift to the Pear Tree. This is another Drury property, located just up the hill on Market Street.

This was an okay hotel. The Drury took over the building a number of years back and obviously spent some money updating the rooms. In general, they are attractive, clean, and spacious. I also found the bed to comfortable and the room quiet. The staff at the front desk was both friendly and helpful.

On the negative side, the lobby is somewhat dreary and needs to be updated. In addition, the Pear Tree is evidently a lower rung in the corporate family. As such, the afternoon snack is much reduced from what they serve down the street. There is no hot food and the drinks are restricted to beer and (very cheap) wine. The Drury's typically offer a range of mixed drinks in addition to the beer and wine. The breakfast in the morning is better, but still more restricted that what a Drury offers.

Finally, because the hotel is on a hill, it offers a great view of the arch from the higher floors. Unfortunately, because of the way the building is oriented, the view is only available from the window at the end of the hallways; none of the rooms face in this direction.

We were the Pear Tree for the Rock and Roll Marthon. Checkout was 11 AM. They would only let us until noon. My son was a runner. We ask if we could stay until 12:30 or at the latest 1 PM in order for him to finish and get a shower before getting on the plane to return home. We thought since the Pear Tree was an official hotel for the marathon, this would be acceptable. It was not. We had to check out by noon. They said that was the latest!! I had to run back to the room and throw our things into the suitcase to make the noon checkout. The desk said if we weren't out by then, we WOULD be charged another day. This caused me to miss my son's finish of the race. The room was OK, but they were not very runner friendly to be an official hotel for the race.

We stayed at the Pear Tree the night before the Rock and Roll marathon. It was conveniently located and in fact we rode our bicycles to Forest Park and to America's Center to get our race packets. It was a short walk to the race start/finish. The rooms were spacious and well decorated, containing refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker in the rooms. It was also quiet despite a world series game that night. I would definitely stay there again when in St Louis.
