“Great Location but Mediocre Hotel”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

Location is ideal in downtown St. Louis... within walking distance of St. Louis arch, Busch Stadium, Edward Jones Dome, and Lumiere Casino. And views from the upper floors of the hotel of the city and Mississippi River are fantastic. However, the service at the hotel was pretty poor and the rooms were only mediocre at best. The attendants at the front desk and the valet for the car kept us waiting for no apparent reason. The room was big but the bathroom was tiny and had very little counter space. Plus the room had a slight smell of mold and all of the sounds in the hallway can be heard very loudly.

Great location, plenty of decent sized rooms, comfortable bed....good concierge, excellent rooftop views. That is where it ends. Poorly maintained and spotty maid service. Dark, dimly lit hallways. No washcloths provided. Towels disappeared as the week wore on. The last day, there were NO bath towels in my room. Room climate was centrally controlled...no in room controls. Lack of power outlets. Bathroom was old and dingy, in serious need of remodeling. Wallpaper was peeling in the room. No trash cans in the room aside from a small one in the bathroom. Bottom drawer of the dresser fell off and nearly broke my toe. One half of the sliding closet door was off the track and wouldn't move. Parking validation is nice, but a pain in the backside to have to wait in line every time you want to leave to get validated. Check in was very slow. Bar service was very slow and the bartender had zero table side manner. Escalator didn't work. The only vending was on the second floor of a 29 story hotel. People screaming in the hall at 3AM. Just a lot of wasted potential. I won't be back unless they overhaul it.

Ask for an arch view and stay on an upper floor, the view is fantastic. The rooms are good sized but a bit run down. Our a/c wasn't working right, so maintenance came in and turned it on high then put a box fan on it to blow it out. There was some paint/wall damage near the top of the wall. The pool was a let down. It didn't look well maintained, so we didn't use it.

We had a room with 2 queen size beds, we had 4 adults. They wanted to charge $20 extra for everyone after the first 2 people. $40 extra per night....insane. We brought it up to the clerk and he took that charge off. There is a $10 parking fee added for each day. The garage is sketchy. We were able to park close because of our handicap tag, otherwise I'd be very afraid going through it.

If we would go back to St. Louis we would look at one of the hotels next door.
Bottom line: Like other reviewers have said, it is a hit and miss, it depends on which room your in and who is working that day.

Room Tip: Ask for an arch view room and stay on the highest floor available. The view is post card worthy.

Average hotel overall, but the location makes it a great place to stay. Its an easy walk to both the Arch and Busch Stadium. The hotel staff was very friendly as well. The view of the arch from the roof top is fantastic, so be sure not to miss that. There is a pool on the roof as well. Once the construction around the arch is completed, it'll even be a shorter walk from the hotel to the Arch.
If visiting downtown and you don't want to spend a fortune on a hotel, stay here.

We got a huge discount, due to traveling with the "MINI Takes The States" event. Otherwise I'd not have paid the pricing, before I booked, and definitely not after I booked. The location was wonderful. Right across from the Arch. Easy walk to other areas. We did not check out public transport, but saw a bus nearby.
The room was spacious. The view was bad, but we did not specify a good view. The room itself was very old, the bathroom tiles and structures very old, but well kept. We had a double bed, but were only given coffee for one person. We asked for extra towels, and they were brought up immediately.
The parking garage was confusing, not being labeled as for guests or not. It was filthy, and the entrance to the hotel from the garage was smelly.
The bar area seemed nice, although we did not order anything.
The hotel knew we had a large group coming, since it had set rooms aside for us. Still, the wait to check in for a lot of people was about an hour. I am glad that we got to the hotel earlier than most. I could not imagine spending hours in the car, getting to our destination, only to be standing for an hour to check in, knowing we'd not be able to see any city sites before our evening event.
I would only stay here again because of the location. But I would not pay the full price. Not at all.

First impressions are everything. Young man when we pulled to check in, was wonderfully pleasant. He gave us directions to parking garage. Front desk. Pleasant as can be. Everyone fantastically nice. Our room?, what beautiful view of the arch. Pool on the room with more spectacular views. Oh. And beer soda and snacks between 5 and 7.
Go stay and enjoy.

Booked two nights and allocated room 1215.

On arriving at the hotel I asked for a room overlooking the Arc and was upgraded free of charge. I used the valet parking, more on that later. The room was LARGE with a fantastic view over the Mississippi and the Arc. There was no fridge in the room so ordered one with reception. When it arrived, it looked like it had come from the storage room and had not seen the light of day for some time!!! I do not understand how they could deliver it in that state. The room maid did a brilliant job cleaning it the next morning.

Breakfast both mornings at the renown Chili Mac's Diner run by two ladies, a fabulous English style breakfast. The evening meal was taken at Charlie Gitto's the first night and Tigins the second night.

There was some building work in the area and a compressor seemed to be on 24 hours a day.

When departing my rental was brought to me and nobody asked for the $30 a day. I paid my bill and thought that the $60 saved paid for my two evening meals, great.

I liked the hotel but would not return as I only went there for the view. It cost me $250 for two nights, so good value for money in view of the location.
