“Up Close with the Elk and Buffalo”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

The attraction here is driving through a park where the animals roam and the humans must stay in their cars--at least in the section where the buffalo roam. Because the animals roam, they are sometimes right by, or on, the road and you have a very up-close look. However, you also risk not seeing them at all if they have wandered off into the woods. If you are traveling southwest/northeast on route I-44 , however, this park can be worth the small detour it takes to see the animals as it is a free to drive through it.

“A mini national park right near St. Loius.”

Pristine. Beautiful setting to observe the wildlife and the natural setting. Recommend a drive through near sun-set with fall colors. Spectacular.

“Love this place, muti-return visitors”
Reviewed 12 November 2013

My favorite time to visit is in the winter, lots of elk roaming by the road in the snow makes for wonderful photos and peaceful observation. You can get out and walk around in the elk area, keep an eye out for other animals to observe as well. You may also see Bison in the bison area but they are a bit more reclusive most of the time.
