The location must be awesome for those going to the hospital. Indeed many passengers were clearly patients. They have a pop corn machine at the lobby that makes a very strong smell all the time. Breakfast is crowded and not good. Rooms are OK. I would recommend it only if you need to be close to the hospital, if not, there are better options....

This is a great value for downtown St Louis. While many visitors are using it for access to the hospital which is attached via the parking garage and walkway, it is also just across the street from forest park and the various attractions there. It's also just a few mins down the road to the arch and other downtown attractions, as well as being next to a metro train stop.

Value is good, rooms are clean and nice, staff is friendly, there are free cookies and popcorn in evenings and free breakfast in the am, an Applebee's attached, so meals/snacks are easy.

Downside:
Parking is in a garage and cheap, however there is NOT very quick/easy access and it isn't well marked (garage is shared so it can be confusing). The only other 'complaint' I have is that the old fashioned popcorn machine is 'neat' for a 10 y/o boy, but will burn your hand if you are unaware- so adult supervision is recommended.

Bottom line:
We WILL stay here again on future St. Louis trips.

We stayed at the Parkway Hotel for 3 nights. We were warmly greeted, the staff went out of their way to accommodate some crazy requests and the breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend staying here!

The Parkway appears, first and foremost, a hospital hotel. It sits on the campus of a multi block medical facility and caters to patients and families of patients. This, on the face, shouldn't be bad, after all, I'm in a wheelchair myself.
But we didn't pick it for its proximity to hospitals; we picked it because it was next to Forest Park and the dreary atmosphere of the place was a real Bushnell for us and the kids.
Also, the parking garage was incredibly inconvenient. I don't know how they get away with the ADA violations, but there are no ramped entrances from the garage to the hotel, and even just on foot the Spellman told my husband that it was easier to walk out the car ramps and walk around the block to get back in.
There was a severe shortage on luggage carts and no one to help.

Hello and thank you for your review. I would guess that after 10 years we could be considered, by some, looking a bit "dated", however .....we are very excited to say that on July 7th, 2014 we will be having our lobby renovated. The beautiful furniture and light fixtures are in and the work will begin on that day. We are VERY EXCITED and looking forward to it.

The first 2 floors of the hotel are rented by our guests that are visiting the hospital, obviously due to our proximity, it's very convenient for them. Floors 4-8 are for our other guests that are here for corporate meetings, associations, government, weddings, reunions, bus tours, athletic groups etc.

"Where oh Where are the Bellcarts??" Please accept my apology for the inconvenience of not having a bell cart at your disposal. Unfortunetly they do tend to disappear. At times, guests ask to use them and refuse bell staff assistance. Some guests keep them in their rooms or leave them in the gargage. We recover them from the guest room once the person checks out or find them as we walk the garage which is several times per day as we are looking for our lost carts. This is part of doing business and all hotels play the "lost bell cart "game.
Regarding the parking garage, it is not owned, operated or managed by the Parkway it is owned by a local company.

As I'm sure you noticed, The Parkway Hotel is in a GREAT location, 1 mile from Forest Park , the Science Center, Zoo, Botanical Gardens and much more with 6 blocks of restaurants on Euclid, something for every taste bud.

I hope you had gotten to enjoy our free hot breakfast buffet from 6:30 am to 9:30am and the other amenities we offer. (fresh baked cookies, 24 hour coffee)

Thank you again for your review, we hope to see you in the future and Guess What Time It IS.....................? My turn to search for today's missing bellcarts.

This Hotel has a walkway connection to Barnes Jewish Hospital. The convenience of that alone will assure i stay here every time i have appointments. The Hotel is well cared for by the staff. They are attentive and friendly at every post. The rooms are comfortable. The rooms have thermostats to regulate the room temperature very nicely and quietly. 3 elevators that zip between floors gives you that feeling of no waiting. There is an Applebee's restaurant attached to the hotel. They keep food around in the lobby for snacks.

Hello Mulvane Kansas and thank you for taking the time to review the Parkway Hotel and for noticing that we do take care of our hotel and that our staff is friendly and on top of it all. We pride ourselves on making our guests feel comfortable and at home. The snacks that we offer complimentary add to this comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere.
Hopefully on your next visit to St. Louis you can skip the Hospital portion of the trip and just enjoy all of the fun things to do in our area after you stop in the lobby between 6:30am and 9:30am for our Free Hot breakfast buffet.

And..........I agree, our elevators are rather fast, that helps me out as well. :O)
Have a wonderful summer and hope to see you soon.

- Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Clean, spacious room and bathroom.

- Free shuttle service that starts in the morning and leaves at 30 minute intervals. I was able to take it to the zoo at 8am on a Saturday, and schedule pickup at noon. You have to schedule in advance to be guaranteed a ride though.

- Free breakfast - biscuits, gravy, sausage, eggs, waffles (in fridge), juice/milk, fruit salad (but was way too sweet and mushy)

- In the lobby - FRESHLY popped popcorn all day, apples available all day (this was wonderful - I like to have fruit every day but couldn't find the time to search for a place to buy some), and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies from 5:30-7:30pm! The cookies go fast so you may have to wait for the next round, because they only bake several at a time.

- Free WiFi! Call front desk for password.

- Nice fitness center on 7th floor

- Was there for 2 nights. My room was refreshed and replenished after the first night - great service.

Cons:
- Pillows are too tall and hard...I had a hard time falling asleep because of that.
- Lighting in the bathroom was dim, so I could not do my makeup properly (and the full length mirror in the room wasn't placed near the window, so I couldn't use that either).
- Walls are surprisingly thin - from the bathroom I could hear every word of my neighbor's telephone conversation (could even hear her phone when it was on speaker).
- I have never had worse food from a chain restaurant, than at that connected Applebee's.

Overall, I had a great experience at this hotel and would stay here again.
