Friends introduced us to this restaurant in downtown St. Louis. Looks like it's been there forever, which is a testament to the service and great food. They don't take reservations, but our wait was only about 30 minutes. The place is lively and fun. The wait staff is outstanding in such a crowded space. Our food was delicious. Next trip to St. Louis we'll be sure to go back.

Mr Charmed and I really enjoy Charlie Gitto's . Our meals have always been flavorful. The service is normally outstanding. We both love the crab cakes and the Italian Wedding soup. Stop in have a relaxing meal and enjoy

Visiting St Louis, ate Sunday lunch here based on the good recommendations. Huge mistake. If you don't order pasta, you will be disappointed with the portion size. My husband ordered the chicken nunzio, it was one very small chicken breast with a few pieces of crab meat. Hardly an entree size portion. Our table waited for almost an hour for the waiter to take our order. During all this time we were starving but they didn't serve any bread until the meal came. Our party was not satisfied with the service or quality of food.

We were a bit early, and they were busy. Regardless, our table was ready. Host inquired what brought us in, was this a special occasion, etc. Our answers must have been passed along to our waiter, because he knew enough about us to get us off to a good start.

IT KEPT GETTING BETTER
Their wine selection is varied, high quality, and pricey. However, that shouldn't deter anybody, because they also offer enough value wines, that any body can enjoy "The Grape"

Our waiter provided good insight into their extensive offering, all the while providing friendly, attentive service.

The food? Nothing short of excellent! Ditto the decor. Sorta make a fella want to visit The Hill in St. louis on a regular basis.

I took a party of four there last month and was pleased. The food was very good and seemed authentically Italian, although there is a slight element of pretension here. It's like they have come far since their early more basic roots and now they are strongly working on becoming a gourmet destination. I'm not criticizing that, only observing it. We were seated immediately past the front door. The day was quite warm and I was a little uncomfortable.

I got a Milanese veal chop and it simply covered the plate with even a little overlap. Naturally, it was pounded flat, but it was still too much for me to eat - and I have a big appetite. The waiter was competent if a little overly familiar.

So, to summarize, this is a worthwhile place and I definitely recommend it.
