A nice area, surrounded by a not so nice area. We walked there from the town centre, through some pretty rough streets. I wouldn't recommend it. If you're going take a cab.
On reaching it, some very nice restaurant are to be found. We had a great evening there (despite the walk)

Perhaps we had our hopes too high, but because of the TA reviews as well as other sources we expected the LaFayette Square area to have considerably more historical buildings than what we saw. Frankly, I expected the LaFayette area to be more like the historical downtown area of St. Charles.

The architecture was very interesting, especially the buildings on the corner of LaFayette Avenue & Preston Place. The majority of the interesting buildings were on LaFayette Ave versus Park Avenue.

Frankly we preferred the Central West End district on Maryland Plaza & Maryland Avenue. We really have no interest in going back to LaFayette Square or LaFayette Park.

What a quaint neighborhood with stunning homes. Cute shops and lots of restaurant choices. The designs and structure of the buildings are beautiful. Makes you think you are further in the south than you really are.

Very lovely area with good restaurants. Homes not open but interesting to see. Park is a walking park with a copy of George Washington.

Lafayette Park is truly one of those hidden Gems. But if you are in St. Louis with some extra time on your hands you need to find it. With Lafayette Avenue to the South and Park Avenue to the North. It is one block East of South Jefferson Avenue. The homes surrounding the park will amaze you. Beautiful Grand structures of a by gone era. There are some great little shops at the North East corner of the park on Park Avenue, between Mississippi Avenue and 18th Street.
