What can I say? This place is an old theater that has been well-preserved. Quality traveling shows stop here.

“Average Venue”
Reviewed 23 September 2011

Powell Hall is an average venue for concert performances compared to others across the nation. An older building, it is well taken care of and has a great ole time ambiance. The St. Louis Symphony that calls Powell home is 1st rate, and one of the best in the nation. Powell is a good venue, but lacks the pizzazz of many newer venues in the US.

“Magnificent for Christmas!”
Reviewed 21 September 2011

With a decor modeled after Versailles royal chapel, one feels like royalty once inside the lobby of Powell Symphony Hall. The light, open, decor with gold accented trims and molding continues in the Hall itself. I went during the Christmas season, and the greenery with red ribbon enhanced the "feel" of the season. Whether once sits in the front row or in the very last row in the balcony, there is not a bad seat in the house! The accoustics are fantastic!

I was there as a chaperone with students for an educational concert which is offered by the symphony for a greatly reduced price. The students are provided with educational materials well before they attend the concert so teachers can prepare them as well as quiz the students on what they learned. The music itself is engaging, the musicians very professional as though they were playing for a house full of VIP's.

I had been here before approximately 6-7 years ago to hear Itzhak Perlman conduct the symphony in Handel's Messiah. The quality of the music is just as beautiful now as it was then. I highly recommend a night out at Powell Symphony Hall!
