“Good place”
Reviewed 27 March 2013 via mobile

Stayed here recently to take advantage of the Choice Privileges promotion. This is a solid hotel and a good value for the price. Not swanky, but it's a Sleep Inn. Good place! Try it...you will like it.

We recently took our family and our German foreign exchange student to Springfield, MO for Spring Break. We had hoped to go camping, but there was a big snowstorm forecasted. Because there were 6 of us, we needed two rooms. We had been assigned our connecting rooms when we made our reservations. Whene we got there, though, there were no connecting rooms. We were then assigned rooms that we were told were across the hall from each other. They weren't, though. It was a bad time, especially when my son became sick in the middle of the night. The next morning, we were told we could move into adjoining rooms if we waited. We wanted to get our sightseeing in, though, so we weren't able to wait. They blocked out the rooms for us, and we were able to move the next morning. I will say that this could have been handled much better. The man on the first night was rude to us and I felt that he wasn't taking our needs into consideration. Everyone else I dealt with, though, was kind, courteous, helpful and friendly.

The breakfast was pretty good, except for the sausages. They were undercooked and soggy. On our last day, though, they were smaller, and cooked better.

We really enjoyed the pool and the hot tub. There were signs posted that said you had to be 18 or under the supervision of an adult to be in the pool room. There were a group of unsupervised teens who were taking control of the pool and making it unsafe for the families. They were warned by staff to behave. After two warnings, they finally got calm. Great job to the staff for taking control of the situation. The pool area is really nice, and the hot tub is great! We spent a lot of time in the pool.

The rooms are cramped, and there aren't a lot of outlets. The lighting was very nice. Lots of different options on how light / dark the room could be. The beds were very small and close to the ground, which made the room feel claustrophobic. You coul hear everything in the hallway, and you could hear conversations and the footsteps of the people in the rooms above you. The doors don't close properly, and leave a space where the light from the hallways seeps into the rooms. We had this with all 4 rooms we were in. The bathrooms are small, but I really liked the shower and the lighting. My husband is tall, and since the shower doors don't go up very high, when he showered, the floor got soaked. It was almost like we were giants in a Lilliputin room.

The hotel itself is really beautiful. It is pet friendly, as well. We loved the proximity of convenience stores within walking distance; it's cheaper to get snacks and drinks at the Casey's rather than the vending machines. There are lots of ice machines. The breakfast room is cheerful, and there are tables in two sections; even though there were a couple of basketball teams there, we had plenty of places to sit.

Although it was't a bad experience, there are simple things that could be done to make it better.

Check-in was easy. I showed up early, and the front desk was very accommodating to find an open room for us.
Room was clean, minus that 'smoke smell' from the previous guests. (it was a non-smoking room) Desk offered us another, but we were too exhausted to switch.

Shower heads were nice. Shower was nice, but a little short on height.

City area around the hotel was safe and clean. No fear of being in a bad neighborhood.
Although it is a nice hotel, I would only stay here again, if there were no other hotels available, as we need a refrigerator in our room. But other than that, it was very nice.

Sleep Inn in Springfield was one of the lowest cost options available to us. The hotel's staff was super friendly and very accommodating to our changing schedule. The room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was basic but adequate. Breakfast was good, with the usual hotel fare. Convenient to a lot of the medical services in Springfield. We would definitely stay at this property again, and will recommend it to our friends and relatives when they come into town.

Ron checked me in and he was very proffesional yet friendly. He wanted to be sure we had everything we might need. Extra coffee requested? Is 2 enough? Do you need help with anything? The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable, it had double beds so the rooms are not too large, but fine for 2 people who are not shy. We had 3 and really needed a little more privacy. It had a toilet/shower combo, which is the only private spot with maybe a foot between the two. Outside of the door is a small vanity which has the coffeepot screwed to the outlet, so don't think you are going to unplug it and plug in your curling iron here, lol.
The breakfast was very good, the staff is great. If I could just get them to relax their grip on that coffee pot.......I'm such a girl

For the last 8 years, every time I'm in Springfield I stay at this hotel, which is probably 3-4 times a year. This hotel has a no-cost deal with a hospital's gym about 5 minutes away and I LOVE working out there. It has some amazing Natalis machines and great cardio machines. This alone is enough reason to stay at this hotel. But they have a great and clean hot-tub, a good, small-size pool and an excellent breakfast. Most days they even have a manager's reception with a local restaurant providing chips and other appetizers. The rooms are always clean and quiet and I've never had problems with the Internet. If you have more time to kill here, there is a world-class library across the street and even a Sam's Club you can shop in. It also has a great BBQ restaurant within walking distance as is also a first-rate Texas Roadhouse. You really can't go wrong here and their prices are among the lowest in the area for all this.

I've stayed at this facility a number of times, but through the past year or so I've stayed at Green Stay. I thought I'd give them a shot again since I love the pool and spa. The property seems to have slipped a lot since my last visit. Linens seem to be wearing out; rough and scratchy. Evening snacks no longer provided. These are a minus, but here's the buggy: The Internet is next-to non-functional! Very difficult to bet on line, and when you do it drops you without warning. I even tried carrying my iPad to the lobby to get connected.
When I reported this to the front desk they told me they have been having this problem. No apologies. No suggestions. Just the word that it doesn't work!
For me, this is unacceptable. I need to take advantage of my down-time while traveling, and being cut off from wifi makes for an added cost of data usage.
IF YOU NEED WIFI this place is NOT 4-U!
