Owner description: Just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Kansas City, Weston Bend State Park offers secluded picnic sites, sweeping views of the Missouri River from an overlook and from trails, and a scenic overlook accessible to persons with disabilities. “Overrun with RV's”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

This used to be one of my favorite 'escape from the city destinations' since the small campsite was quiet and full of tent campers. We never had to make a reservation and didn’t have to listen to generators running all night.

This time we were disappointed that there were loud RV's everywhere! The only spot left was the handicapped electric site which we had to pay full price to set up a tent and the electricity didn't even work. There were no official Missouri Park staff onsite, only the Host, who was not very helpful at all. To top it all off when we went to shower in the morning many of the “reserved” tent spots had not even been used.

The old tobacco barn used to be a really neat place, now it is a joke. The educational signs are too faded to read and the barn is full of junk. Nothing like bringing my family to one of my favorite places only to continue saying “well last time I was here” or “when we used to come here” or “this place used to be so great.”

I hope that they can restore the park to what it used to be and build a tent only camping area.

“Very scenic state park - worth a day trip”
Reviewed 22 May 2014

Not a large state park, but worth a trip. It has unpaved hiking trails that wind up and down many tree covered hills. There are a few trails that take you directly to the Missouri river. There is a trail along the bluff of the MO river that has beautiful views of the river and many sights where you can look across into Kansas. during the winter when the leaves are off you can see Leavenworth, KS.

Lots of fall leaf colors to view.

There are also paved bike paths as well as picnic, camping and playground areas.

None of the trails are very long, but there is a lot of variety and a great place to spend an afternoon with the kids either biking or hiking.

Easy drive from Kansas City. No entry fee.

Beautiful view of the area from the bluffs, and part of a fun day in Weston. Great overlook and little walkway.... There was more to see but we were limited on time.

“Beautiful little state park”
Reviewed 12 November 2013

Very pretty in the fall. Worth taking a short detour to drive through. There is tobacco barn (with an educational/information board), nice setting for campers, some nice trails (paved and unpaved) and above average outdoor toilet facilities. The best part for us was the short walk to a wonderful scenic view with a surround bench around a tree in the middle. Gorgeous color in the fall.
