This used to be one of my favorite 'escape from the city destinations' since the small campsite was quiet and full of tent campers. We never had to make a reservation and didn’t have to listen to generators running all night.
This time we were disappointed that there were loud RV's everywhere! The only spot left was the handicapped electric site which we had to pay full price to set up a tent and the electricity didn't even work. There were no official Missouri Park staff onsite, only the Host, who was not very helpful at all. To top it all off when we went to shower in the morning many of the “reserved” tent spots had not even been used.
The old tobacco barn used to be a really neat place, now it is a joke. The educational signs are too faded to read and the barn is full of junk. Nothing like bringing my family to one of my favorite places only to continue saying “well last time I was here” or “when we used to come here” or “this place used to be so great.”
I hope that they can restore the park to what it used to be and build a tent only camping area.
