Kim's Cabins, Windsor, NO. We were referred to Kim by the local Chamber of Commerce and wow! There are a total of 3 cabins within an easy walk/ride of the Katy Trail. Affordable and clean and all set up to make your stay amazing. Kitchen with stove, oven, micro and all dishes and cookware included! Comfy bed. And we even had an electric fireplace with Christmas decorations! We will certainly put this on the top of our list for return visit! Thanks for a wonderful stay!
This place goes by "Kim's Cabins".
There were 4 of us riding the Katy Trail and going up the (new) Rock Island Spur Trail. Our cabin had 2 queen beds, a fold-out couch, and the owner put in a portable folding bed so we would all have our own bed.
The cabins are clean and brand new (2017). The showers had plenty of pressure and hot water. We were given access to a shed with a locking door for our bikes that was just a few feet from the cabin.
Its location is perfect. You can access it from the Katy Trail on a little side path, just south of the high school. (Path hooks to Cherry Street.) That is just south of the intersection of the two trails.
Its also just a couple of blocks walking distance from the Sidecar Cafe for breakfast which we highly recommend. For dinner we rode a few blocks to the main intersection in town and had a terrific dinner at Cinco de Mayo Mexican restaurant. When you are done with dinner, you just bike one short block to the NE, turn left on Florence and coast all the way back to Kim's Cabins.
We will definitely stay here again.
We had a family get-together in the area, and we stayed in one of the new cabins. It was wonderful! From the scent of fresh cut wood as you enter the cabin, to the well-stocked kitchen cabinets, it couldn't have been more perfect. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for showers (and nice fluffy towels!). We weren't sure what we needed to bring, but the answer was nothing! There is everything there from a hair dryer to a coffee pot, with sugar creamer and lots of cups. A welcoming kitchen table had a little gift package of home made jelly. We especially enjoyed having our morning coffee on the front porch and listening to the clip-clop of horses and buggies going by. We can't wait to return!
Kim owns three cabins and we stayed in the newer of the three. All three are supposed to be great regardless of age. Not only was the cabin clean and cozy, as well as well-fitted, the customer service was wonderful. Kim works hard to make sure you're happy. Great location ... just feet from the Katy Trail and a convenience store and blocks from downtown and the Rock Island Spur.
My husband and I have stayed in Kim's Cabin and loved. The cabin is beautiful and very cozy! We every plan to stay there every time we are in the area!
KIm's Cabin in Windsor, Missouri is a gem on the KATY Trail. My brother and I spent the night in the cabin after a day's ride on the trail. The location couldn't be better. Literally a stones throw from the KATY Trail head, and a few hundred feet from where it intersects the new Rock Island Trail. After we checked in we rode a few blocks into town and ate a late lunch/early dinner at Raymond's Family Restaurant. On the way back to the cabin, stopped at Casey's and picked up beverages to enjoy while relaxing around the fire pit. We were able to secure our bicycles in the shed next to the cabin with a padlock supplied by Kim. I believe there is also a pen for horses. When we retired for the evening, the cabin had a nice bathroom with a shower to freshen up from the days activities. Towels and bed linens were also supplied. The bedroom had a comfortable full size bed that I slept on, and my brother chose the hide-a-bed in front room. In the morning we were able to make our own coffee with the Mr. Coffee in the kitchen area. For breakfast we walked a short distance to Nita's Place for more coffee and a hearty serving of biscuits and gravy to give us fuel for our ride back on the KATY. If you're looking for an over night get away or stopping place on the trail in Windsor, you won't do better than Kim's Cabin. Peaceful and quiet with no distractions of TV or internet. We are making plans for another stay this spring.
