Beautiful location in the middle of nowhere - perfect for relaxing with the family. Rustic accommodation with much-appreciated little extras for the kids - a box of toys, booster seat, bed rail - all those things you don't have room for in the luggage! Pool and garden play area are fantastic for children, though it is worth noting there is no gate between the driveway and the steps down to the pool (the pool itself is gated). Plenty to see and do in the local area - our water baby swam in the pool, a lake, the sea and at a water park - and the grown-ups managed to indulge in a little Perugia Jazz, as well as some history in the local towns and cities. We really appreciated the on-site restaurant: right next-door to our apartment, we could see the door from the dinner table, and the baby monitor worked too. The only time we had an issue, Paul was on hand immediately to help. Would (and have!) recommend to anyone travelling with little children

Main reason for docking one star is the very lumpy bumpy driveway, although our hired Fiat Panda seemed to survive. Excellent place for families, brilliant pool with amazing views - but other holidaymakers at Pian di Cascina did need to pass our otherwise beautiful terrace to get to their accommodation, so we weren't quite as peaceful and private as we might have wished - but then we are an older couple, and younger folk might find that a plus point.
We visited the obvious places - Assisi, Perugia, Gubbio (and its very scary ride up the mountainside!), Lake Trasimeno, and some less obvious smaller hill towns, all reasonably accessible within about an hour of Pian di Cascina. Took us a while to realise that it is silly to go anywhere between about 1.00 and 5.00, when the rest of Italy is sensibly having a siesta and it is so HOT!. That's the best time for the pool.... Also, eating out really only starts properly at about 9.00pm. But then it's brilliant.
The very best bit for us, being keen walkers, were the couple of excellent walks from the villa, and also one we found near Passignano and Lake Trasimeno. Butterflies and wild flowers to die for, scenery simply stunning.
Isabel and Paul were very low key, not in-your-face but there when problems arose (eg ants in the villa, dealt with immediately and with good humour). The meal cooked by Isabel was simply scrumptious, complete with panoramic views, glow-worms, stars by the end of the evening, and very good company of others staying there.

This was our second visit to the Pian Di Cascina – last year we held our youngest daughter’s wedding celebration there – superb it was to! If you are planning a special day look no further! We had such a fantastic time that on departing in June 2012 we decided to book for this year to celebrate our daughter and son-in-law’s first wedding anniversary. Once more we had the best time ever. Isobel, Paul and indeed the whole family are totally delightful. Nothing is too much trouble and they go out of their way to look after their guests. We ate on two occasions at the Tavernetta – an event not to be missed. The food is simply amazing and some of the best we have ever eaten. Isabel is very knowledgeable on wine choice and has also now introduced us to the delights of prosecco and Campari – a lethal but delicious aperitif combination! A group of four we hired The Gubbio, which does sleep six. It has the most wonderful views of the Umbrian countryside and is so private. It is simply magical watching the fireflies in the evening from the terrace.

Thank you Isabel and Paul for your kind, sincere and welcoming hospitality and above all great sense of humour! The Pian Di Cascina has a very special place in this family’s heart. We shall be back!

This was our first trip abroad with our 7 month old baby and despite everyone telling us it wouldn't feel like a holiday, it did. Isabel and Paul made us feel very welcome and that nothing was too much trouble, even though we asked a lot. The views were stunning, food at the tavernetta exceptional and the pool was a brilliant size and we all loved swimming in it every day. Our little girl wore a wetsuit in the pool and there were no issues.

Room Tip: The Cantina was beautiful for a couple sharing or couple with small baby in the same room. Very coo...

Perfect - beautiful location, within a decent drive of lots of interesting places and a really great set up. We were on holiday with our daughter who's almost 2 and Isabel and Paul provided absolutely everything we could need, from toys to a booster seat to plates. There's a really lovely garden with brilliant toys in and a lovely pool too. You can do loads of great day trips - to the beach, a lake, and cities like Perugia. And for parents who don't get out much there's even a small restaurant that opens two nights a week - we could see our apartment from our table! Can't recommend highly enough.

We don't often return to the same place for our holidays, but made an exception for Pian di Cascina - and were very glad we did. We were feeling in need of a relaxing fortnight with some sightseeing included and once more found that staying in the 2 person apartment La Cantina provided us with real comfort - a really comfortable bed and 2 easy chairs indoors, and a large covered patio outside. Everything we wanted was there. The one thing we weren't too keen on when we arrived was the wooden chairs on the patio, but a word to Paul and he found us some plastic ones instead. That's what I call service! In fact, the service that Paul and Isabel give their guests is really brilliant - they are there when you want them, but never too obtrusive if you want to be left in peace. The daily bread delivery is a great bonus, and Isabel's restaurant meals are outstanding. We were fortunate with the weather, especially our first week, and reckon that the scenery in that part of Umbria is unbeatable for beauty. Add to that the proximity to Assisi, Perugia and many other historic towns and villages, means that the area is an art lover's paradise. We are well past the age of travelling with young children, of whom there were quite a few in the various apartments, but because things are well spread out we didn't find that a problem at all, as opposed to the situation that can arise in a hotel. In fact, we enjoyed sharing the pool with one or two families who were all having a great time encouraging the kids to gain confidence in the water. Whether you are a family with young children or an older couple or group of friends this is a great place to be centred, provided of course you are prepared to drive from time to time as it is very much out in the countryside. Thank you Paul and Isabel for your work in providing this wonderful place.

The setting is beautiful with lots of great things you can drive to for a day out. However, if you want to stay 'in' then there is everything your little cherub needs - we had two children just under 18 months and they spend hours in the various 'vehicles', the swing, the slide and climbing frame as well as the obligatory gravel gathering. Isabel is a mean chef and we booked into the restaurant, La Tavernetta, both nights it is open, as the food was delicious and we could relax with the babes in bed once we'd found the optimal monitor positioning! We also treated ourselves to a night out and Isabel arranged a baby sitter who was fantastic. Isabel and Paul are great hosts and make everything very easy for all the guests, even the little ones.
