“Birthday meal”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

My partner and I went there last week for my birthday and the meal was utterly fantastic. The service was beyond excellent and the meal was to die for. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and will most definitely return in the not too distant future. We had the shared starter I had the rarest steak there is and Geoff had the skate wing and it just fell off the bone all cooked to perfection by Martin who by far is a very talanted chef. You walk in and are greeted with a warm smile, welcome and order your drink as you peruse the very tempting mouth watering menu. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any entrepreneur who has a tempting palette for fantastic cuisine. 10\10 and well worth a visit wherever you live. Sue & Geoff

“A dinner for four of us”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

for a small country pub the menu choice was very good and the quality and presentation was very professional although warm avocado with prawns as a main course was first time encountered and still not sure it seemed right - the steak was excellent and cooked to order -by the time we ordered our sweet the lighter items had sold out leaving basically various heavier puddings -- the dining room had no atmosphere at all and on a cold spring evening was quite chilly -- we drew the curtains to try and keep out the cold-- how nice it would have been if a small fire had been burning in the grate--service could only be described as average

Diners who arrive early choose were they would like to sit, in the busy bar or quiet dining room. Your party was the last table to arrive and the quiet dining room was only available.
The Dessert. All our desserts are home made and the puddings are light and small. We did offer a fresh fruit salad, but your choice was a hot pudding served with Ice Cream and extra Custard.

Fantastic location, amazing service, glorious food. This truly was a hidden gem found. They specialise in seasonal game, fish and four legs!

My partner had beef and ale pie which didn't dissapoint, it came with a lovely shortcrust pastry topping and plenty of meat with a delicious ale gravy. I had the rack of lamb with redcurrant juis. The lamb simply melted in the mouth. We were given a varied choice of vegetables, cauliflower cheese, green beans, butternut squash and deep fried potato with mixed veg all served in separate bowls.

Desert was amazing, baked banana in tortilla with almonds and ice cream was yummy scrumptious and the raspberry and chocolate pudding was simply delightful.

“Excellent Meal”
Reviewed 31 March 2014

Lovely treat for a spur of the moment midweek evening out. Made very welcome by hostess. The meal itself was delicious, presentation excellent and piping hot. Will certainly return but will leave it for a Friday or Saturday evening when hopefully will have a few more people dining.

“Calling all vegetarians”
Reviewed 21 March 2014

After recently re opening purely as a fish and game restaurant i am SO pleased to see that vegetarians are now being catered for to. On my visit this week i decided to try one of the vegetarian burgers from the menu, i had a choice of sweet potato or mexican bean which came with a choice of delicious relishes, i choose a sweet potato burger with an avocado relish. I have been a vegetarian for 34 years and i can honestly say it was the best burger i have ever tasted, totally delicious and packed full of flavour and despite my best efforts i only managed to eat half and asked to take the rest home. Whilst sitting at the bar chatting to the owners i ate the the rest as it was so delicious i just couldnt resist it. After years of suffering the standard vegetarian lasagne it was so refreshing to be offered something so delicious and different. So if your planning a visit i cant recommend it enough, i just hope they dont become too popular as there wont be any left for me!.
