The Lodge at Big Sky

My husband and our friend recently stayed at The Lodge at Big Sky for 7 days to ski Lone Peak and Moonlight Basin. We were slightly leary because there wasn't a lot of information about the resort, or detailed pictures from this and many other hotels. However, we could not have found a better place to stay!

Instead of booking through a website, we called the hotel and spoke to the General Manager, Ryan, who gave us a FANTASTIC deal on rooms that we couldn't have gotten through a website, as well as a GREAT ski lift ticket package that was also impossible to find. The total cost for the room was quoted exactly as charged, and lift tickets were also easy when we got there.

The hotel is VERY easy to find, and an easy walk to the Mountain Mall/Village Center where most lifts are. It is also a smaller hotel, so finding the room and navigating around the building was extremely easy. The room was clean and very well-equipped with a kitchenette that had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We stayed in the Mountain View suite with 2 double beds.

Throughout the week, the owner of the hotel, Jeff was always visible, and even drives the shuttle to the lifts! Definitely one of the friendliest guys we have ever met, and makes your stay wonderful. Jeff hosted several events through the week, such as a concert, grill'n and chill'n night with buffet, and always had a great breakfast and bar open. The lounge was very cozy with oversized leather furniture and a huge fireplace with a great view.

We cannot say enough about this hotel, even though there may not be a lot of information available about the resort itself, but we are in love! Ryan, the manger, also has offered us the same price for the room as well as lift tickets if we book for next year, which we have done.

I can guarantee your stay will be wonderful, and every member of the staff goes out of their way to make sure your stay is as pleasant as possible!

We stayed at The Lodge for a week following Christmas. It was our first ski trip ever and the amenities at The Lodge made our trip fun and comfortable. Pool was great, hot chocolate was great, shuttle to slopes was great, and the price was unbeatable.

The Lodge at Big Sky was overall a pretty darn good place.
Lobby/front desk:
Lovely lobby area with huge fireplace, high ceilings and comfy couches. Front desk service was staffed by young kids, mostly, but they were all accommodating and knew their jobs. The owner, Jeff, was a wonderful and outgoing host, who was eager to share the best places to eat, shop and (of course) ski.
Rooms:
Rooms were large with very high ceilings. Overall the rooms were nice, but the mattresses, towels and linens could use an upgrade. We rented a room with a kitchen, but found it to be so tiny (the stovetop) that it was hard to cook on... and very little counter space for working. Bathrooms were great (except towels as mentioned).
Amenities:
The pool is small but nice, and there are 4 hot tubs. The inside hot tub was way too hot for my taste, but the ones outside were tremendous and all were clean. There were also ping pong tables and foose ball also, but we didn't use them.
Shuttle/skiing:
The shuttle to the ski slopes (1 minute away!) was always available (driven by Jeff) and very convenient, though I walked several times just because it was so close by.
Food:
Breakfast is free, and is very average. Frozen eggs and sausage must be rewarmed in a microwave. But they also had a good selection of muffins, bagels, fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, and beverages including yummy hot chocolate.

Overall, i'd recommend a stay here, and I would return myself. Thanks to Jeff and his staff for a fun time.

We went there for a ski vacation - stayed January 11th - 16th 2010. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is great - 2 minutes walk from the Big Sky base. They run a shuttle service though, starting in the morning at 8.30am to 10.30 am and in the evening 16 - 17am so you don't need to carry your ski equipment to the lift base and back.
The room was spatious and well kept - 2 queen size bed plus a mini kitchen with a microwave and a fridge. They also have a swimming pool and hot tubs - indoor and outdoor - which is a great feature after a whole day of skiing. The breakfast doesn't have too many items on the menu but they are enough and it is nutritious. The hotel offers an "all you can eat" $10 dinner buffet for those that wouldn't go out.
To resume - great staff, great location, a really good value and comfortable hotel. I would go there again.

The hotel is clean and nice. We are here currently and there is only 12 rooms rented. It's HEAVEN. I would recommend this place to everyone. It's located one block from the main lift on the mountain and the staff is very friendly and nice. Be sure and bring a bathing suit for the intdoor pool and hot tub.

This hotel appears to be a former Holiday Inn Express. It's in great condition and very clean. The free breakfast is adequate. The staff is friendly and helpful. They could use another internet PC, but I guess they offer WiFi anyway. The room was comfortable with a microwave and small "fridge". The fridge in my room wasn't very cold, however. The lamps were flaky; one didn't work at all, and I should have reported it. The room seemed very safe and secure. The temperature control worked well, but the climate control seems to be a heat pump. I was in the top floor, and I could constantly hear water running thru pipes, which could be very distracting. The volume would go up when I'd cool the room down. They should have insulated those pipes better to deaden sound. The location is great if you're into a mountain village, but it could be tedious trying to get to other places. That's just part of being in the mountains I suppose. It was fun to see a black bear in the parking lot.
