We stayed in Whitefish for a week and decided to do a tour. Stopped at the Sitting Duck for lunch. Was not disappointed. Great view. great service and an awesome lunch. Little slow service but we are retired and doesn't really matter. We loved it there and will be back.

We stopped because of the lake front property. Our service was awesome! We thought the food prices were fairly high for what we received. The food was mediocre but after speaking with our server we were told the cheese sauce on the nachos was homemade. Either way, it was a gorgeous day and the restaurant made our day enjoyable. Remember...don't be too judgemental, it is hard to run something like this. It will eventually work the way it is supposed to.

We had a nice lunch here on a long afternoon. The bar tender did a good job waiting the tables and tending bar. We had a couple of poor boy sandwiches and some nice cool beverages on the outdoor patio overlooking the lake.

I was in there last weekend with my brother for some food and tasty adult beverages. When we first went in, we headed to the top floor to take in the view and have a beer and dinner. We waited about 20 minutes and never did see a waitress. We went down to the main floor and were told that the top outside deck is a "smoking area" and that the waiting staff was not allowed to serve up there.

Fine, we decided to eat on the main floor. Our waitress showed up after a 10 minute wait and she was a piece of work. I guess she works at the show tunes dinner club as well and was a complete drama queen. We ordered our beers and some calamari and off she went. After about 15 minutes my brother noticed two Corona's sitting up at the bar. I went up and grabbed them and brought them back to the table. After throwing back about a half a warm beer our flighty waitress still MIA. We decided that it would be wise to move up to the bar. We figured that even if the food service was horrible, we would still be able to get a beer delivered that wasn't sitting at the bar for 15 minutes.

We ordered our meals from Matt the bartender along with some extra beers while we waited for the long overdue food to arrive. The one good thing I can say about the place is Matt did take good care of us. The ditzy waitress that we had to start with never did show up with our appetizer. When the food arrived the portions were rather small for the price they were asking.

Bottom line: The bar itself is nice and the bartender is great, so if you're going in for drinks, you can't go wrong as long as you sit at the bar and don't rely on the serving staff. If you want food, try one of the other places within walking distance.

We are locals, keep wanting The Duck to get something together; a lovely destination location on Flathead Lake, shady seating, great dock, etc. BUT, the food is consistantly poor: nachos soggy with cheese-like substance instead of real cheese. A simple burger was awful, not ground beef
with familiar texture, but pasty, grey tasteless something we suspect was 'Pink Slime', the cheapest beef one can buy. Just not the place to cut corners when there are great burgers avalailable here. Won't go back for more than a drink on the deck.
