“Pleasant stay”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

Nice to stay somewhere that is a bit unique. The room was bright and clean. The bed was comfortable. The location was great for us. We would stay again, mid week value is fantastic!! Weekend rates are quiet high.

My gf and I stayed there in April, we loved it, it is clean, comfortable, and just by the lake. The owners also run a pub across the street, which makes it convenient ;)

The value you get for what you pay is amazing :) make sure you make a visit to bigfork town, it is lovely and had so much character

I visited the Islander Inn on a recent "staycation" from Whitefish. The place was clean upon our arrival and the rooms are nice and comfortable. I liked the sink being separate from the shower/toilet area which made it easy when showering and getting ready with another person. I also liked the curved shower curtain bar, similar to the "heavenly shower bars" used at Westin resorts. Cute decorations in the room, too.

For dinner, we walked over to The Raven across the street and had a fantastic dinner. We also popped into Flathead Lake Brewing Company, a brewery and tasting room right next to the motel. Definitely a can't-miss spot!

The Islander is a gem. I've stayed here many times during business up and along the Flathead Valley. The rooms are very clean and feel very much like a home away from home. I've often thought that the rooms would make a good apartment. Not only comfortable, the rooms have all the modern day necessities including internet service, flat screen TV's, etc. However, don't get too caught up in those things....stop what you're doing, open the door and walk outside and look to the West. There's a magnificent lake there surrounded by beautiful mountains. The ever changing skies, clouds, sun and yes, weather, remind you that you are alive here on planet earth. Sounds a little too poetic? These are the places the poets come to my friend. No lie.

So nice! The room was super clean, and even though they had set up the wrong room for us initially, the housekeeper graciously made sure we were taken care of. The room was well insulated - the days that we went the temperature was hovering around a few negative degrees, and we were never cold. I sort of wish we had gotten a room with a kitchen, just to save money on food, but the local restaurants were good anyway. You can see the lake from the room, and I bet this would be awesome in the summertime.

Bed was comfy, walls were nicely painted. Super homey. And CHEAP! $59/night, man. So great.

This was a great Christmas get-away for us. We didn't get to the motel until after 7pm on Christmas Eve so the owner was off attending a family gathering, but she made sure we still felt welcome by leaving us a note on the door, the lights and heat on in our room, and our key where we could easily find it.

The location: the motel is located right on the main highway in Woods Bay---NOT BIG FORK. The address is correct for the motel, but do not trust your GPS - ours had us more than 8 miles further south! Just keep a lookout for the teal buildings on both sides of the highway as you come into Woods Bay, you can't miss them. There are several places to eat close by, a convience store, and even a local brewery. We didn't get to try anything other than the c-store because they were all closed for Christmas.

The room: We stayed in the Wild Horse room. It was roomy and open feeling - but with the bathroom still separated, laminate "hard wood" flooring gave a very warm feeling to the room and not so typical "hotel room", The room included a nice size mini-fridge and coffee maker, racks to put your suitcases on, a little bistro table w/2 chairs, a floor lamp, and a large floor vase added nice touches. It is time for a little upkeep on the room though....the flooring near the heat/AC unit is buckled and can pinch your feet as you walk over it if you are not careful and it is time to repair/replace the bistro chairs as the wicker is breaking and someone is going to fall through one of them soon.

Value: I am not sure what the "high" season rates are, but the off-season rates were very reasonable and well worth the 30 minute drive south of Kalispell.

Dog Friendly: The motel seemed to be very dog friendly as everyone we saw had a dog with them. There is a great grassy area right outside the rooms for the dogs to play and do their "business", and there is also the dock and rocky beach across the highway at the Raven for them to explore.

We stayed in October just one night. The room is darling with a mini kitchen. The restaurant across the street is great as is Flathead Brewing down a half block. We hiked and the weather was cool. Would be fun to come back in the summer. Think it's a great location on the lake. We met many friendly people at both restaurants, both diners and employees. Doesn't seem to be a grocery nearby, so I'd bring food to cook for breakfast.
