The room I stayed in (Southwest) overlooked the wolf enclosure so I could see the wolves (if they were nearby) whenever I felt like it. I think the price was fantastic considering that the cheapest most impersonable rooms in Bozeman were a only a few dollars less. The setting is awesome! Jackson Creek Road is one of the prettiest roads I've been down in all my travels. The hosts were so kind and helpful. It was obvious that they cared for the wolves deeply. Thanks for a great stay.

Just returned last night and I miss Howlers Inn already! Chris and Mary-Martha are more than hosts, they become like family from the start. They are always ready with a genuine smile and willingness to help you with travel plans, directions or whatever else you need. No matter what you have planned for the day, coming "home" to the Inn feels just like that. Starting the day off with Mary-Martha's fantastically delicious breakfasts set the tone for the day and the talk around the table was always stimulating and interesting. It was so much fun to meet people from all over the place, there for different reasons, and to hear about their "current adventure". The dynamic is all at once intimate and private, cozy and family-like. I can only imagine the work Chris and Mary-Martha have to put into the place to keep it running the way it does, but they make it look effortless and do it all with a cheerful spirit. It shows in everywhere you look around the property. The decor is cozy and rustic, everything is clean and there's always a comfy place to sit and absorb the awesome surroundings. We stayed in the Western Room and it was just terrific! Same obvious attention to detail as with everything else there. The bed was comfy and the room spacious and clean, everything you could need was provided for. Being able to see views of both sides of the property was awesome! And this review would not be complete without mentioning the "stars", the wolves! Being able to see them whenever we wanted, from the privacy of our room or walking the perimeter of the enclosure, was phenomenal and something I will never forget! It was so fun to see Chris feeding and playing with them and to see them "wrestling" with each other. And when they howl, it's actually soothing, not scary or annoying at all. I had already set it in my mind to move to Bozeman in 5 years, and said it to various people during this trip. Being there for a week solidified it for me! I definitely plan to be back to visit this "blessing" before then, but I've already left a piece of my heart there!

Our recent stay at the Howlers Inn was fantastic. It's located in a beautiful quiet valley off Jackson Creek Road about 15 minutes from downtown Bozeman. Mary Martha and Chris are delightful down-to-earth thoughtful hosts. Breakfast entrees were unusual - such as German Apple Pancakes and Baked Eggs with Spinach & Cheese. These recipes are included in the Inn's cookbook which also features photos and commentary of the wolves. The wolves were a sight to behold - playful during the cooler parts of the day and ever-watching from their hideouts during the heat of the day. We felt very privileged to see them play and hear them howl. We stayed in the Aspen room which has restful mountainous views on three sides. And we enjoyed time on the porch with a glass of wine while gazing at the awesome scenery. Even though we came to Bozeman for a wedding, the stay at the Howlers Inn turned it into a restful vacation. Thanks to Mary Martha & Chris!!!

Room Tip: The Aspen room with two queen beds has views in three directions. Each room has its own bathroom.

We made a detour from our originally planned route from the Black Hills of Dakota to Yellowstone Park just to stay at Howlers Inn and we are so glad that we did because it was one of the highlights of our trip. The draw, of course, was the wolves and they made our 2 night stay a fascinating and awe inspiring experience.

I'm not a great fan of zoos or of keeping wild animals in pens, but if the 8 wolves currently living at Howlers Inn hadn't been taken in by Howlers Inn, they would probably not have survived. The Inn's owners, Chris and Mary Martha, a delightful and friendly couple, obviously love looking after the two packs in residence and treat them so well that any misgivings you might have about the fact that these beautiful beasts are kept in captivity quickly disappear.

Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great during our stay (snow in June!) and wasn't conducive to a group howl. Kiowa, the alpha female, tried a plaintive couple of howls one morning but the others didn't join in. To wake up to the wolves howling would have sent shivers down the spine! Watching them interact, particularly early morning and in the late afternoon, was engrossing enough though. Only a lucky close encounter with 3 wild wolves in Yellowstone Park a few days later exceeded the excitement of the time we shared with the wolves of Howlers Inn.

We slept in the Western room, which has a huge comfortable bed. The armchair in the room was pointed at the TV, which we never switched on, and was soon moved over to the window to watch the real wildlife documentary unfolding outside. The best rooms for watching the wolves are the Western, which has windows with lovely views to both sides, and the Southwest, which both overlook the large pens the wolves live in. Our room had a very nice bathroom with a spa bath.

The Inn has lots of great facilities, including an indoor hot tub (used in the winters only), a sauna, and a home cinema. They also have laundry facilities: very useful in the middle of a long holiday! Mary Martha's breakfasts are excellent and everyone seems so excited about seeing the wolves that we struck up some great conversations with other guests, both over the breakfast table and whilst watching the wolves outside. They sell some great quality souvenirs too, including a cookbook of Mary Martha's recipes, some beautiful pens hand made by Chris, and some excellent T-shirts. I've never bought two T-shirts from a B&B before!

We really liked the town of Bozeman, a 10 minute drive away, which has some excellent shops and places to eat. We followed Chris and Mary Martha's recommendations on restaurants and cafes and ate some great food. If you're in the Yellowstone park area, have time to make a detour to Bozeman and have any interest in wolves, Howlers Inn is a fantastic place to stay.

Room Tip: For best views of the wolves, choose The Western or Southwest room

Cannot say enough positives about this great (and unique) bed & breakfast. First, the location about 15 minutes outside Bozeman is in a beautiful valley. Very few homes in the area. The rooms were large and had nice views. The breakfasts were absolutely fantastic! But best of all were the wolves. When we were there, they had a "pack" of older wolves and a younger group of wolves. We were very lucky to arrive about two weeks after they had received two new pups - Tahoe and Chinook. They had not yet been introduced to the other wolves, so they were in the house and we got play with them. By the time we left they were close to going into the pen with the other wolves. Hearing the pups' first howls was the best. I highly recommend staying here for the wolves, wonderful owners, great rooms and fantastic breakfast.
